Don Cherry Talks Hockey, Commie Pinkos

Not sure exactly which members of the media are being accused of being Reds here, but Grapes goes on a nice rant about fighting and hitting at the end of Coach's Corner.

And three straight Coaches Corners where Cherry talks about PK. Of course he says he warned him about his play resulting in his being benched yet from most accounts PK has the nights off due to long shifts something Cherry never mentioned. Yet according to him he told everyone so. Even "Jack" Martin. He really is a master of "I told you so" whether he really did or not.

Yet again he states he likes PK. Of course he does.

I'm kind of torn on Cherry. For one, he's tremendously entertaining. Mostly because of how ridiculous he is, but he is fun to watch, he's a great showman. Also he really knows his hockey and has a strong passion for the game. He's probably the best guy on TV for finding those little subtle plays and pointing them out. He notices the stuff that you might not see watching a game two or even three times, and he singles it out and shows why Doughty or Schenn or whoever made a really brilliant play. I love watching Cherry when he's pointing out the little nuances of the game like that.

On the other hand, he is a heaving windbag who doesn't even try to hide his man-crush on the Leafs, and his xenophobia and bigotry borders on racist.

Oh well, ratings sell and that's what the man brings in. Also he's got some serious style!

Sorry PH, but I have to disagree. McGuire sucks on TSN. He finds one player a game to slurp on and that's it.

I had almost written him off until I saw an interview with him on OTR (I hate the show and rarely watch it). He showed that he knows his stuff. he rarely shows it on live telecasts because he is too busy talking about his monster, big body presence and other buzzwords that mean nothing.

yeah does tend to show man crushes, doesn't he.
I find he's toned that down a bit since Monster Double Dion has proven to be more bust than boom.
I'm not sure when he turned from annoying to entertaining for me... somewhere in a WJHC probably.
