When everything is running that well, it just makes that first loss in the playoffs play on a team's mind even more. :D

I hope the Canucks continue their streak of being #1 by being the first team eliminated from the playoffs! :)

At least the Canucks have not playing in the Winter Classic on their side.

This.

The team is dominating so much right now that a little adversity in the POs could really get to them fast.

I dont know about this notion ... Ill let them play before casting judgement on their ability to take adversity

because theyve faced adversity all this year ... top 5 in league man games lost ... 3rd best centre may never play again ... top dman has been out for just under half the year with back surgery ... maybe the second best dman missing for half the beginning of the year ... a teammate that left the team with mental health issues

a team in its entirety that could be said to have had past playoff mental health issues (with the hawks 2 years in a row)

theyve been through a lot and i like where its going ... and i like that everyone and their dogs (dogs named Shane O Brien and Kyle Wellwood) are pointing at them and saying they are frauds or that canucks should be worried about the Hawks/Ducks because "goodness gracious, those teams have been playing playoff hockey for some time now to get into a playoff position" ... Im glad this has happened because it has definitely kept them on an even keel

you could see it in their play last night against Nashville ... Nashville wanted to just lay back and grind one out, take away time and space and frustrate the fuck out of the canucks ... past years the canucks would have just fallen apart and made some dumb decisions that would have cost them a goal or 2 ... seemed like last night they were content to just play along and pick their spot to pounce

lets just start the fricken playoffs already

That was one of the worst 3rd periods ever. I think the Nucks out shot them 14-2. :L

The team is dominating so much right now that a little adversity in the POs could really get to them fast.

yeah, same thing that Little Rat Bastard was saying on the radio....
most of the teams that the canucks have been 'coasting' through recently have been battling tooth and nail for those final playoff spots.

road wins over Nash, Det, Cgy, SJ, Pho, Ana, LA recently. All those teams have battling for position.
Nash was 8-1-1 coming into last night's game.

I see a confidence with this group that I haven't seen before. the better part of 4 decades of being a canucks fan still have me scared shitless for the other shoe to drop :fear: , but I have been waiting for that all year with the injuries jstew had mentioned, and they just play through it. They have used 37 different skaters this year, including 13 different defensemen.

goaltending depth and defensive depth is unrivaled in the league... Sedins are absolutely mechanical in their approach to the game. they get stronger as games get deeper, and as series' get deeper (see vs. LA last year). All we need is one other line to step it up each night, and we will be a tough team for anyone.

this season, the inevitable slumps we have been on have generally been .500 hockey. that ain't so bad.

the one thing I do fear is running into a team early on that will do damage even if we do beat them (Ana, Chi, maybe Nash).

I'm too lazy to go verify, but if that's indeed true, it's damn impressive. Dominating at both ends of the rink. I know they won't have Manny back for the playoffs, but who else is injured? What's the status of their D?

4 of them are verifyable here: http://espn.go.com/nhl/team/_/name/van/vancouver-canucks
the others need a couple of extra clicks.

Edler had back surgery, he should be back before the playoffs.
Hamhuis is having a week rest after some (mild?) concussion symptoms
Alberts recovering from broken wrist, also due back around the playoffs
Samuelsson has been hurt for a couple of weeks, he's practicing again
Tanner Glass is recovering from sore ribs, is also very close.
Rypien getting his shit together, will probably stay in Winnipeg.
Malhotra done for the year, of course.
