I wouldn't go getting my panties in a wad over Urban Meyer. He will field some good teams but he will have down years too. Look at Florida 2010.

Really we see what he did in two mid to lower tier conferences and what he did with Tebow. I am not saying he is not a great coach, just that the sky isn't falling.

We will get our share of recruits out of Ohio just like we did with Texas.

This ended up going in the direction that I was hoping it wouldn't.

I wasn't trying to compare Ohio State to Oklahoma/Texas really............I was trying to say, who is going to be the team in our conference that we treat like we did Oklahoma/Texas in the Big 12.

Ohio State will be a completely different team.........no 2 teams are the same. But no matter what conference we're in..............we're always gonna have that couple of teams that we struggle with. I just think it will be Ohio State for obvious reasons, and I also think we'll struggle with Michigan even when we feel like we are the better team (much like what happened with Texas).

Maybe some of us "expect us to struggle" because we're feeling a little beat down and disappointed after this season? Would we still feel this way if the Huskers went undefeated next season, then beat down an undefeated SEC team in the championship?

I would submit for consideration that it's possible that we are. And we wouldn't.

In this conference, until Bo proves otherwise, we will be struggling with several teams. Two teams we have a good handle on is Michigan State and Iowa because of our talent advantage and that they have non-mobile qbs in lackluster offenses. Minnesota may have been an anomalous game. I'll feel more comfortable if we can dominate them again next year. Again, until Bo proves otherwise, we will continue to struggle with Michigan, Northwestern, tOSU, Penn State, and Wisconsin. Although we have no one to one competitive body of work to compare we should out talent Purdue and Indiana. Illinois could be dangerous for every one in the conference if they can hire someone who can recruit like Zook and have the additional skills to develop talent and game day coach.

LOL @ thinking the Minnesota game may have been an anomaly. That is the worst division 1 team I saw play on a regular basis all year. I don't see beating tOSU and Penn St. as struggling with them, but we could certainly begin to with tOSU. Penn St. will be in the gutter for at least a decade.

Wisconsin loses their whole team in Russell Wilson, and Michigan only returns 12 total starters so who knows what they're going to be like next year.

You can laugh all you want. Minnesota got better as the year progressed. We were very inconsistent on offense and at time, horrendous on defense. I would like to see a repeat outcome over Minnesota next season. As you break down who loses who, don't forget that we lose our 4 best defensive players, one of them probably irreplaceable. We have proven that as we lose players on defense our performance on the field suffers. Our saving grace for next season is that our "whole team" in Rex returns, but what will we do after next season? Like every other team, we will learn to live without him. You do realize that the other teams have coaching staffs and are always looking to improve just as we do?
There's nothing I want more than for us to be the top dog in the Big 10. Bo just hasn't shown he can take us there yet.

Your perspective is wacked if you think Minnesota is on the cusp of doing any kind of real damage. And losing rex is not gonna be the end of the world. He's a great dependable back, but he's not a game breaker like Abdullah or the other two young extremely talented backs are. My suspicion is that one of those three freshmen will be getting the same talk Prince got when Bo came here about having a good chance to make some serious money in the NFL at cornerback if they make the switch. Charles Jackson will Be Fonzie's heir apparent and will probably play quite a bit and may start by the end of his freshman season.

Zaire Anderson will likely step in and play immediately at MLB. Will he be Lavonte? No. But coaches are raving about this guy the same way they did Lavonte when he got here 2 years ago.

Defensive line will be fine. There is a massive amount of talent there that got plenty of PT this year and I don't see us having 5 DT's go down in one year again.

The offense will only get better. Beck is still growing as a play caller and he returns all the key pieces from last years offense. I don't see Caputo as being a significant loss. He was serviceable at best.

All in all I think Nebraska reloads nicely and has plenty of pieces in place to make a run at a division title and compete for a BCS bowl berth.

Nebraska loses Dennard and Lavonte..........that's basically all you have to look at beings that Crick had zero impact on this team this season.

If our 8 returning starters on defense (plus several others who saw a ton of playing time) can make up for the loss of those 2 guys, there is no reason we shouldn't be able to compete for the BIG Championship next season.

The entire offense returns...........entire special teams..........there are no excuses. If we lose a game, it will be because we weren't ready to go that week.

I will start giving Bo excuses again when our team is only returning 10 starters and we have Freshman going all over the field..........

Until then, the pressure is on.

My bad, I was thinking Baker was a senior. Those returning starters have a long way to go. We really need to learn from the ground up. The d-line needs to get off the snap quicker and get stronger, the whole defense needs to learn to tackle and the d backs need to find their way because they are lost. I don't expect anyone to make up for Suh or Prince or David. We were extremely fortunate to have those extraordinary athletes on our side. The past 2 seasons Bo in August has claimed that the defense was better than the year prior. Although 2010 was a very good defense, it was not the dominating defense of 2009. This year was a train wreck compared to 2010. Being a recruiting guy, I would normally chalk this up to losing the great players, but this is Bo we're talking about. Where is the genius? As I've posted before, could the "genius" of Bo be more a reflection of the talent that he inherited? Perhaps he doesn't have the patience to develop young talent?

Offensively, I am of the belief we will be better and I also believe we will have to lean on the offense hard next year.

You may call me a downer, but at the end of the day I would love for Bo to prove me wrong.

We had some high points this years. Unfortunately they were few and very far between. We had 3 stars (and they were more than dependable) on this team. Rex, and the 2 D's on D. Unfortunately, 3 guys don't comprise a team.

We find out today at 3PM EST what the damages are...

I'm thinking they get off with less than what USC got...

Ohio State, Nebraska and Wisconsin will be on top of the league for years to come

Penn State is tough to tell at this point they're a mess at the moment

Illinois is the potential sleeper of the conference, they have a good coach now. Only problem for that is he isn't getting a lot of the assistants he wanted from Toledo because Toledo acted quickly and promoted their offensive coordinator to head coach.

Michigan might fade, hopefully we don't need their bandwagon fans around

Michigan State hasn't actually gone away either, this next year will be a big test for them.

Northwestern has managed to at least be decent

Shocks me there's not one single Michigan fan that has shown up on the cooler or elsewhere this season. You would think 1 fan in the state of michigan would show up here with all the opportunities for trash talk etc..
