Auburn would owe millions if Chizik, staff terminated | oanow.com

Chizik, mired in Auburn’s worst season of the past 60 years, is owed $7.5 million paid in equal monthly installments if fired without cause after the contract’s second season, which ends Nov. 30.

The monthly payments would be $202,702.70, and they would continue for 37 months until the contract expires Dec. 31, 2015. Chizik’s contract also allots a $200,000 bonus for leading Auburn to a BCS Championship Game.

Auburn would owe Chizik $7.7 million if it terminated the head coach without cause before Nov. 30, according to the contract.

That's an expensive decision either way. Fans are going to be pissed if drastic changes aren't made after this season but $200k per month to fire him???

Don't you think he wants to keep working in college football? What kind of career would he have if he spilled the beans on the whole Cam thing.

Dude Chizik is gone. They probably made the decision a long time ago.

Money isn't the issue. It costs them more to lose than it does to pay a coach that brings in WINS.

Revenge and scorn make people do drastic shit! Plus he would still be getting paid, and would definitely write a book about it!

I think he's smart enough to know he will be lucky to get a job as a head coach at a school that can give him a salary. He can probably find a job as a coordinator or at a small school though.

destroying the school that fired you, and getting all the media attention and shit that comes with it > having to settle for a DC job at a "nobody" school
