There have been debates on what strategies are the best... Does anyone want to put your strategy up...

Here are the rules: we use a standard roster

QB,RB,RB,WR,WR,WR,TE,Flex,D/st, K.

We use last years statistics... so it is purely strategy and no luck necessary.... Due to the fact we are using last seasons numbers, no bench is allowed...

so it is a 10 round draft...

We will use standard scoring(seasonal stats), single games don't matter... We will use decimals to make things easier...

points will be

throwing- 1 point every 25 yards, -2 per interception, +6 for TDs, +2 for 2 point conversion

Rushing- 1 point every 10 yards, 6 points TD, +2 for 2point conversion

Receiving- 1 point every 10 yards, .5 points per reception, 6 points per TD, +2 for 2 point conversion

Miscellaneous- -2 points per fumble lost, 6 Pts for punt/kick return TD

kicker- +1 point for xp, +3 points for field goals, -1 for field goal misses(40 yards or less)

Defense- using standard defensive metrics.

again, there is no dedication needed for this league, it will just be a draft and nothing else...

We use 2013-2014 season stats, so we don't even need to set up the site for the league...

the draft is 10 rounds long...

Not sure of the point. Never heard of a strategy draft... and if prognostication is not a part of it, I doubt I will be either.

Biggest point of this is to waste time before Fantasy drafts begin... It should also help us in our fantasy drafts... But it is true that prognostication is not part of this league...

The purpose is to find your best strategy, and to see if there is actually a best strategy... It should be a fun exercise for us fantasy addicts...

the answer to who drafted the best team will be answered same day as the last pick of the draft!!!

Although I admire your dedication, I don't think you can gain much from this exercise. The 'strategy' this year will likely be different from last year. Not that I'm a genius or anything close, but I'd simply rank players by their total 2013 points and draft accordingly - - that's not a strategy, its documenting history.

But it is more than that... I understand this wont happen, but i think you guys are misunderstanding the experiment, and what it accomplishes...

Manning was the big boy, last year, would he go first overal?? If he does, will that team get screwed with their RBs??? Its all about strategy!!! how about the person who decides to use a TE as their flex, how would that affect the rest of the league??? This format is all about strategy, and what it may also do is prove to you how good some lesser names did last season, and the advantages of drafting a player from a bad team over a player on a good team burried in the depth chart!!!

strategies would have to be stated pre draft......then just let the dice rollll...........really you need a handful of different strategies, use a rankings board, and do the draft yourself.........couldnt you

The best strategy last year was to go whatever/whatever/QB and take Peyton Manning.

Milk - I think it is always grand to seek perfection, but I don't think it resides in the past. I do not think the perfect strategy exists unless you are somehow afforded the first 14 picks. There are far too many unknowns to say this is the way to go. If there was a utopia then no one would lose.

Draft position plays a part, but yes you can practice strategies to define the best team possible for those scenarios, yet you cannot anticipate what the other in the league will do which mandate a change in 'strategy'. Those who ignore those necessary changes are destined to fail. Also, you cannot predict injuries or that guy who comes out of nowhere to be a stud - luck and waiver position, not draft strategy, come into play.
I've found that you take the best guy available when it goes to you and you hope for the best.
Then monitor and actively use the waiver wire and trade possibilities. I honestly believe there are as many, or more, championships won from savy work after the draft as there are those won from the draft.

Exactly. The QB-first "strategy" with the earliest pick will win. No need to do a whole draft.

More, definitely more. Winning your league in August takes the utmost amount of luck, along with some stupidity sprinkled in from fellow owners.

You can do this on your own, setting ten strategies and then just taking players off the top of last year's FF stat list.

Try it. Whoever gets Peyton Manning wins.
