or sites that rate the NHL coaches? Not necessarily on wins and losses but their overall coaching abilities.

I am going to come up with my list and I know it's just an opinion but was curious to see what other posters think.

Who is your top five or ten?

Like I said I'm working on mine and got the idea from the Dan B. contract extension thread.

No surprise at Mike Babcock being number one. Good coach and great organization.

Wish there was a greater emphasis on defense every once in awhile though.

WW use a bigger font, I'm getting old and needed the hubble telescope to read your replay. J/K brother.

The tough thing when evaluating coaching is that the skill level of the teams are not always consistant. For example the Bleacher Report link had Coach Q second. I seriously doubts he cracks the top ten if the poll was taken while he was coaching the Av's. A big part of the reason he got up that high was becuase the Blackhawks team that won the cup last year was rediculously deep.

On the other hand Barry Trotz is always coaching a team with an internal budget that often trades away it's star players when they feel they won't be able to resign them. He's never won a cup but he has always had them fighting for a playoff spot. To me what Trotz has been doing is much more impressive than what coach Q has been doing*.

*Not trying to take anything away from Quenville, he also had the Blues consistently in the playoffs durring his tenure there.

That sounds exactly like another Coach in the NHL who's somewhere in the Northeast. :D
