man, I just can't listen to games that he's calling anymore

his entire schtick is using words out of context, and adding "on down"
go on, keep track of how often he does it.

Didn't read the article yet...but I do like him...he's a huge Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

I love Doc....when he was the Devils play by play man with Chico Resch doing the color commentary I think we had the best duo in the industry. Steve Cangiolosi who replaced him does a far better job than most I hear from other teams but a lot of fans are still down on him....because he's not Doc.

He's from LaFontaine?! I pass that quite often. Like 30 minutes from my place in Anderson.

Nice going Puck, Did you steal his "cheat sheet"? Damn, he's screwed now. You would think he'd at least put them in alphabetical order. You "Fucked it" up for him now.

Good work though.

He was the best

Lafleur streaking down right wing (Guy, put your clothes on)
A cannonating drive and a scintillating save
The puck is caught up in the goalie's paraphernalia
Gilbert Perreault dipsey-doodling over the blueline (for Boss)

I remember Al Shaver singing "he's got a pair of legs, like two whiskey kegs" whenever Craig Ludwig would block a shot. Perhaps Al was nipping on the bottle but can you blame him having to watch those North Stars teams?

We had a mutual friend and I was at a couple of parties that Al was at. He wasn't a big drinker, but he did like cigars. On one road trip, he and the North stars were coming back across the border after a game in Vancouver. Al had purchased some Cuban cigars, which were illegal in the US. Customs was going to take them from him and before giving them up, Shaver said "If I can't smoke them, neither can you" and he crushed them up in front of the Customs Officer.
