Do you get concerned when your team wins a pre-season game?

I just like to see my team lose preseason games. Doesn't make sense I know, just one of those feelings. Anyone else as crazy as me?

BTW, my Bolts are 0-2. You should put money on them now.

I don't care really...a win feels better I guess, but the primary goal is the see some decent OL play and no major injuries....don't want any free running shots on the QB.

The only purpose for pre season is revenue enhancement for the owners. As much as I miss football when they aren't playing it anymore, I would be more than happy if the starters never suited up during the preseason. If there is a benefit they aren't getting in training camp that these games gives them, its so negligible besides the risk that it doesn't even register on the radar screen.

When was the last time you remember a team coming out of preseason without some type of injury that needed to be overcome? I am sure it has happened but not often. I never want to see players get serious injuries but getting injured in a preseason game is the height of pointlessness.

i tend to use the preseason games to see how my 1st team O and D are. I don't worry until after 3rd game.

Depends I guess. Teams tend to run things fairly vanilla in preseason (Offense and Defense) and usually not all starters will be in the game anyway on both teams.

If my team was coming off a 5-11 season, I would obviously be a little more analytical of the preseason game. If it was 2nd/3rd stringers putting up most of the points, then I probably wouldn't be as optimistic.

Watching Seattle this preseason I'm looking more at what kind of depth Seattle may have going in to the regular season just in case the injury bug hits and I'm liking what I see so far, especially at LB and the CB position.

I don't care if they win or lose, I just don't want to see them suck and I do want to see young players emerge and make plays.

As a Broncos fan, you can probably understand why the only thing that I care about during the pre-season is coming out of it without any catastrophic injuries. Wins and losses in August are meaningless.

Yeah when the starters are in. I think the Bills starting offense has looked good and the starting defense has looked improved. So yea I pay attention. Also even though its against back up Tuel and Easley have look really good. So I think its good to have some back ups that have been excelling.

You realize, of course, that those were more the exception than the rule. I suspect that the correlation between the preseason and regular season records of teams is pretty close to zero. That said, I'd still prefer to see the Broncos starters, particularly on defense, look better than they looked against SF and Seattle.

Not the only one, they do need to see draft picks, FA signings in some action with live bullets, but 2 games should be enough to know what you have...the other 2 are worthless imo. That said I still don't want to see an 18 game season.

I would rather see them lose in pre season than to see them risk injury going balls out to win a meaningless game.

Wins and losses don't matter. It's all about young guys getting some game speed in and the veterans shaking off the rust. Coaches don't coach to win; they coach for that.

And to whoever said preseason is just to make the owners money, you're full of shit. Preseason is 100% essential to the process of getting your guys ready and deciding who makes the team. There is not even close to an acceptable alternative option.

I remember reading one of your posts and saying to myself: "that was a good point". It doesn't happen very often, it may have been about a month ago but I am sure it happened once. I think.

It might even happen again one day.

I don't exactly tailor my posts to readers at your level. I assume some basic football knowledge so unfortunately a few get left behind.

Fortunately, if my posts are over your head, there is a simple option for you built into the site. It's called "ignore user" and it can safely dumb down threads for you by removing posts from posters who confuse you.

Try that :suds:

I still wear my "0-16 The Real Perfect Season" t-shirt. I wanted but never did go get a Jersey with the #16 and the name of Owen.

Honestly its for starters only but only when both teams have to test stuff out in preseason. Like saints have needed to test out their new defense and offensive line only problem was they were testing against the raiders.

I just view it as practice, and mainly judge the character of the play. Considering that it's all reserves in the 2nd half, there's definitely more randomness in the final result.
