didnt realize this ended up being posted on the "Pans" board

a bit more detail on the fugly tv numbers: averaging 3000 households per game

To give you some perspective on how few people watch the Panthers, consider this: Their .19 local rating was the worst in the NHL among the 22 teams studied by Sports Business Daily (numbers for Carolina, Nashville and Canadian teams were not available).

That’s lower than the rating for a kid’s show named Doodlebops at 7 a.m. Sunday on WFOR-4, lower than an AbCoaster exercise equipment infomercial on WFOR last Sunday, and lower than the Ninja Professional Blender, Chopper and Ice Crusher infomercial on WPLG-10

i honestly think it might happen this off season ... and it will be reminiscient of the Colts leaving Baltimore in the middle of the night (with the exception being no fans will care and there wont be a marching band left to play local taverns) ... ie the morning after, nhl offices will act like nothing happened

I really find it hard to believe that the current Winnipeg Jet ... err ... Manitoba Moose ownership group thought they needed to plan this massive upgrade to the pressbox area of MTS Centre right now because they wanted ahl media to live it up when they came to town

So which team do you think goes to Winnipeg, Atlanta or Florida?

I do not see contraction happening anytime soon, and I am fine with that. I think there are enough players for there to 30 NHL teams.

I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Atlanta move in the next year or so. If they move with little or no trouble from the league I can see a couple of other teams moving.

since we all know the bond issue in glendale and the purchase by Hulsizer is going along swimmingly ( :L ) (... and you didnt included them for selection) ... I will say Atlanta

I think TB should stay put, they have proved themselves. ATL and FLA should both go north of the border.

Actually the Phoenix situation is a bond issue with the city of Glendale. Hulshizer said they could have closed last week but they're trying to save the city of Glendale 100 million dollars.

You are on the right track....

-Return Phoenix to Winnipeg
-Send Atlanta to Hamilton
-Move the Panthers to Vegas

They could have AT LEAST called them the Lone Stars when they moved. Would have actually made sense, unlike say... the Utah Jazz.

I think an NHL teamed named the Utah Jazz would be pretty unique...
