good luck forty. no point commenting on some of the bad calls in these games. I guess I just did that.

bottom line is no more losing and the Caps need to find their game FAST.

i like how babcock thinks about these series. it's a race to 4. lightning don't have 4 wins yet. series is not over. but they clearly need to figure out this 1-3-1 because it's killing any flow they can generate in their offense.

Two thoughts:

(and I have never coaches but I have played a ton)

1. They need to skate the puck in more. The 1-3-1 is killing the dump'nchase.

2. Moreow shots from the outside to free up some rebounds. The caps are yet to score a pretty goal this series.

I'm shocked at how this series is playing out. When Gagne and Kubina went down in game one, I thought their departure from the series would be a tipping point for Tampa. But it has been anything but.

I figured a close, low-scoring series because of the bolts trap-game, and Washington playing it close and tight all second half of the regular season. I was thinking six or maybe even seven games.... not in a million years would I have bet on a possible four game sweep.

why so few shots in the 3rd? simple case of just taking their feet off the gas pedal? poor conditioning? just bad luck?

heard Knuble post game and he sounded defeated ... "flabbergasted" that Tbay can conjure up goals whenever they want ... was actually a very good honest response from a player

/who replaces Boudreau? MacT? too much of the same thing?

is backstrom hurt? his lack of offensive production and disappearance in big moments is seriously out of character.

semin is once again becoming a scapegoat. i don't think he's playing great, but he's not playing that badly either.

green is once again becoming scapegoat #2. i think he's actually looked pretty good.

and so it begins, listening to sportstalk on the way in to work today, and everyone is screaming for boudreau's head and ready to jump off the cliff. none of those people know shit about hockey and try to apply the same principles to hockey that they do to other sports. as if it were that simple.

people in this town have no sense of fucking patience.

He took a stupid bench penalty that negated a goal last nite. Not his finest moment, but he hasn't played as bad as Backstrom. That guy has completely vanished:alien:

Green has looked fantastic in my opinion. The kids have been getting some abuse and Schultz still refuses to uses his big body.

I sure hope that Backstrom is hurt, and not just out of it with his big contract extension. He did break his thumb against Pittsburgh with about 15 games left, but that is supposedly 100% and was so before the playoffs even started.

i actually think some of the caps problem is ovechkin.. i know he's been producing, but how can he not? if he gets the puck outside the zone, every single time he's going to skate it in.. he's either going to half drag and shoot between the defenders legs, or try a full drag to go around the d-man.. and it's always on the left side of the ice.. the top line is 100% predictable.. and even when he gets a shot off, most of the time it's stopped, and most of the time it's one and done.. i've watched most of the caps games this playoffs and to be honest i dont think he's scored coming down the left side yet.. most of his goals have been in front of the net digging and hoping

why not take the puck out of OV's hands when entering the zone? why not have backstrom try to skate it in, pull up, and use his vision?

am i way off base or do caps fans see/think this sometimes too? i just feel like when i'm watching the caps i'm watching the same 40 second clip on repeat.. and on the PP, holy stagnation batman.. that 5 on 3 last night was the easiest 5on3 to defend i've ever seen until the finally moved and then surprise surprise they scored.. the puck is moving, but it's moving between 5 trees out there

If I had access to photoshop atm I'd replace Williams with a Cap, but I don't so that's the best I could find.

I agree with you. OV taking the puck in the zone just doesn't seem to be working, yet he continues to do it...usually having the puck knocked off his stick just past the blue line. And I agree even more on the power play. They are incredibly stagnant. Zone time doesn't mean much if the defense never has to move their legs.

I agree with this to a degree, but I do want Ovi to be the one skating it in. he is the fastest guy out there and gets the defenders on their heals. I would like to see him drop it off a bit more or shoot wide to set up a rebound for the trailer, but I want the puck on his stick coming in.
