Earl brought up a good point in an earlier thread about how this defensive is pretty much doing this w/o Spencer and Ratliffe. I can only imagine what this could be if Ratliffe comes back with 75 percent of the motor he used to have. Hatch had a tough penalty yesterday but he has been a beast all year. Ware has been phenomenal the last 2 games. I think we kind of expected that, maybe not Hatcher being this disruptive- but a good player. The surprise to me has been the other 3 or 4 guys working in there. I looked up yesterday and 55 was making plays. I thought he was a LB and I was wondering why he was in instead of Holleman. The guy was playing DE. Selvie has made an impact each game. Hayden has done his job. Wliber even made a play yesterday. Maybe there is a secret sauce.

Well that was one of things that a lot thought we were weak at- DLINE. I think it has been a strong suit so far and with the players playing , we obviously have some depth there as well. Still a long way to go , but i definitely like what I see there.

By the way, who in the hell is 55 and where did he come from. He made 2 or 3 really good plays yesterday but the announcers never called his name. When I first saw it I thought he was playing LB , but then I noticed he was lining up on the end.

Late trade, so we didn't have him in the preseason. Supposedly the kid can get the QB (think he led the league in preseason sacks, not to say that is an incredible feat). Time will tell.

You aren't thinking of Ceasar Rayford from Indy are you? That was a guy we traded for right after the preseason who was a big preseason go-getter. Edgar Jones was from Baltimore for a conditional pick.

I am not surprised that this DL has been good. I have always felt that Hatcher and Rats talents were being wasted. Unfortunately Rat is worn down and used up. This defense is all about pressure and a healthy Rat and hatcher would have created havoc. Now we got two overpaid guys basically on the roster with career ending injuries. Spencer and Rat should never had been given those huge contracts. Most people that followed the Cowboys knew that we always had the personel for the 4-3 and not the 3-4. Have to give kudos to Kiffen and Marinelli for finding guys like selvie and Hayden. As much as I bash the Cowboys would love to see Rat return, but I just don't think he gives a shit anymore

Yes, Fordman. The guy from Indy was the one that led the league in preseason sacks. This kid also was a late trade and was not on our team for the offseason. He was one of the special teams guys. Thanks for the correction.

I'm not a big stats guy, but I love these stats:

#2 in sacks

#2 in stopping the run

The pass defense might have its ups and downs but if they can maintain stopping the run and pressuring the quarterback, it won't hurt them.

Defense has been good and we still not have seen the best of it imo. Wait until Sean Lee has a MONSTER game.

If the Defense is all doing their Jobs then Lee wont have to have a monster game!

really?
seems odd when the dlineman have one objective....get up field
yeah. If Lee has a monster day it is he is getting other peoples tackles & or assignments. I am not saying Lee is suppose to be quiet. Don't think they will design their offense to go pick on Lee. So while he will get his, if everyone else is getting theirs, he wont need a monster day.

I dont get your point at all. In this defense the job of the front four is pure pass rush.

Not stopping the runner.... That falls on the linebackers.

If Lee has a huge game it's a great thing.... Means we fucking stopped their run.

there is more than just lee as a LB. I don't think the front four have done bad so far & Lee hasn't had a monster day. I think everyone is doing their jobs. Not just Lee. (well except maybe the DBs)

Last 2 games opposing team is 5 for 26 on 3 rd downs. Thats impressive. We keep talking about our front 7 which has been good , but our coverage is getting better. I like our 3 CBs. Wilcox will make some mistakes but I think him and Church are good tacklers. The LBs in pass defense havent been great yet but they should get there. They have the ability too anyway.
