Blackhawks star Kane has fractured wrist.

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane has a fractured left wrist and will need 6-8 weeks to recover.

The team disclosed the injury Friday, saying it was discovered recently during his offseason training.

Blackhawks team Dr. Michael Terry says Kane will have surgery on Tuesday to repair what he called a scaphoid fracture. He says Kane is expected to make a full recover in time for training camp.

The star winger for the Hawks injured his wrist and will be out 6-8 weeks. He claims the initial injury was during a regular season game against the wings, but sources suspect that it might have something to do with his habit of pointing wildly while shouting "What's that?!?!" when asked to pay cab fares.

Scaphoid... I had that injury. I was in a cast for four months. Of course, it didn't take his doctors an entire year to notice something was wrong...


Relatedly, the surgery gave me arthritis. I wonder if he'll suffer long-term consequences from this.

Also, you get this injury from sustaining a high-force impact to your palm, back into your wrist. Kane must be trying a new method of open-hand punching cabbies...
