Ya trading important players for utility players has to stop. Teo helped, but therefore plenty of FA options they didn't even bother to try and sign. We need a new plan.

I don’t think you can use the negative of trading Swanson. I still say they should’ve made that 10/10 times. But yes putting both of those numbers together is bad for the Mariners, but that is the flaw of the FO in trading both in the same season.

Plus has anyone even asked them their philosophy on holds? They don’t believe in saves so would assume holds is irrelevant too? DH, Closer, runs, strikeouts all irrelevant positions or stats

And not replacing them with proven relievers. They went with the K-Mart special guys again. Yes it works to a point, but those guys come with limited innings and die by seasons end. Imagine making those trades then signing a real replacement? Wow, we could actually be a contender.

It's not just the Seawolf trade but the Gravedigger trade of 2yrs ago has sunk this team both times in missing the playoffs and also killing team moral.

I don’t fault them for not thinking Swanson couldn’t be replaced. A full season of Brash and Munoz should’ve replicated him anything Swanson would’ve given the Mariners. They didn’t which makes the Sewald trade even more of a head scratcher cause Jerry and Justin had 4 full months of seeing Munoz and Brash aren’t quite there of being lock down set up men, let alone set up man and closer.

Problem with finding replacements though, do you really want them trading prospects for a closer? Just me personally I’d be pissed just cause they could’ve just kept Sewald and traded prospects for a legit 2B/3B or COF.
