Matt Garza's name has begun to pick up a bit more this week, with the Diamondbacks and Twins both having been linked to the right-hander. Here's the latest on Garza...
  • There's a growing feeling among executives that Garza will sign soon, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, who tweets that the D-Backs and Angels are viewed as the favorites.
  • According to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register (Twitter link), however, the Angels aren't expecting to sign anyone today, so it doesn't appear Garza is close to signing with them.

With no pick attatched to him, surprised there aren't many teams lined up for him.

He's only 30, so he'll probably want a long term deal (4 or 5 years). And he probably is asking for over $10M per year. That is a lot of dough for an average pitcher...

A better option than Colon who we just signed for the same price, at least IMO.

Angels or Dodgers should look to add him. Especially the Angels.

No reason for the Mets to sign a pitcher to a deal that long. They have Wheeler, Gee, Niese and in theory Harvey ready to go in 2015 and beyond, with Mejia, Montero, Degrom and Syndergaard all potentially being ready to go after next season.

No I know that, just saying 10M a year for him isn't bad when we just paid that for a guy 10 years older than him. Didn't want Garza on the Mets, not with all the young pitching talent we have.

I would say Garza is a definite #2 starter, at least IMO.
