And, though DeBoer altered some things the Devils did systematically – and with great success – under Lemaire, his players believe in him to the point that captain Zach Parise says any of them would “run through a wall” for him.

Why?

“It’s a lot of different things,” Parise said today. “Believing in what he’s doing, believing in what he wants to do, the way he treats us as players, the way he handles different situations. He really right away earned everyone’s respect as a coach, but as a person, too. That really goes a long way for a player.”

Good to see that coming from Parise..gotta admit I wasnt really thrilled with the DeBoer hire. I wanted a Hitchcock type but I have no complaints with how he's handled the team this year. Far cry from Johnny Mac.

So far I like the guy. I agree I thought the coach killers were going to eat this guy up. but hes turned the devils into an exciting go team. Top line is playing it should and it trickles down from that. There be games in the past where I wouldn't be able to catch a game and wouldn't even care to watch the highlights this team though is exciting they hardly take a game off

They're were some growing pains, but it's hard to question the current success. He's got players having fun while playing hard and responsibly, that can't be easy, even for a professional coach.
