nobody is really talking about him with emergence of Phillips and Toler practicing so well.

He's versatile and plays good special teams. Would hate to lose him. Ideally we would trade Toler and keep Everett

He is a good ST player but there is no room for him on the roster unless they release Blackmon. As far as Toler goes Tandler had him getting cut in favor of Dunbar just b/c of the age factor. He also had guys like Coefield, Sudfield making the roster when they could easily go to the practice squad.

Tandler also has Perry Riley making the 53 man roster. I would keep Toler and let Riley go. Although I don't know how that ultimately affects LB depth and Special Teams play.

If Spaight plays well in pre season in camp then I can see letting Riley go. The five ILB's would be Compton, Foster, Cravens, Spaight, and Garvin.

Trade him.

Easier said than done. Everyone who watches the NFL knows we are deep at corner, and unless some one gets injured we are going to have to cut some one loose. Smart teams will sit back and wait on that to happen. I would love for us to fleece some one, but I dont see it happening,.

Trade for him and get a cheap contract. We release him and you get to battle other teams for his service.

Trade for a 31 year old corner.. what exactly is the going rate?? A 7th rounder?? You think SMGM would give up a draft pick for a 31 year old player??

Everett is technically listed as a S... He's making the switch similar to Blackmon... Halls age and health concerns me. Also I wouldn't mind seeing us give Cravens some more SS reps and possibly cutting Ihenacho for Everett

Just throwing out possibilities

Depends on the team and situation. Quality corners are hard to come by and if a team believes they are challenging we can get a fifth if he keeps balling out.

Why not just keep Toler and send Sudfield or Coefeld to the practice squad?

Because we have Norman, Breeland, and Fuller who are absolute locks.
Then we have Dunbar, Carrington, Everett, Harris, and Phillips fighting with an old guy like Toler. Toler is expendable with no upside for this team. With all that youth and size, you have to find a way to keep them here.

Why dont we wait to see how things look after the next two preseason games. I get the feeling CB, OLB and DL will be some of the LAST cuts we will make. Smart money says hang onto all of them until the last possible moment, then decide who if any of them you think we can slip onto the Practice Squad. We could do worse than a top 5 CB rotation of Norman, Breeland, Fuller, Dunbar and Toler. Granted this is supposed to e year two of the rebuild, but having the secondary to seriously consider winning the division again any a bad thing.

Toler's upside is that if a major injury happens to Norman or Breeland. I would be more comfortable with him in there instead of Dunbar, Fuller, or Phillips. There is no reason to put Coefield and Sudfield on to this roster. Toler is way to valuable to release him. I think Phillips is going to make this team. So its really Dunbar vs Toler but if you release someone else you can have both.
