Alfonzo Dennard thrives on intense competition.
"That comes from when I was little," the Nebraska junior cornerback said Monday. "My older brother (Andrew) always told me, ‘If you think you're the best, you want to go against the best. If you think you're good, you want to go against the good, not the bad.'"
Saturday night, Nebraska's corners will square off against Oklahoma junior wideout Ryan Broyles, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound speedster who leads the nation in receptions per game at 9.6 and ranks third in average receiving yards at 115.9.
"I see Broyles as explosive, fast, quick, and he has good moves off the ball," said Dennard, who earlier this season played well against Oklahoma State standout wideout Justin Blackmon.
"Blackmon, he wasn't that quick at all," Dennard said. "He can do jump balls and things like that. Broyles, he's quick off the ball."
Meanwhile, Nebraska prepares to face Oklahoma sophomore quarterback Landry Jones, who threw five interceptions last season in the Huskers' 10-3 victory in Lincoln.
However, Dennard has noticed this season that Jones no longer is locking in on receivers.
"He can look at one receiver on the right side and then turn around and throw it to the left," Dennard said. "Other quarterbacks can't hardly to do that."
