Ware missed practice yesterday. Let's be honest about him, Great pass rusher, but seemed to be playing hurt for the past 4 or 5 seasons. He always seemed to disappear late in games and in the latter part of the season. Let's not forget that he anchored the worst defense in Cowboys history. I don't think the loss of Ware is as big a deal as the fact we wasted 2 high picks on Claiborne

Yes, the last two years he was hurt, but it happens. He had 19.5 sacks 3 years ago. Imagine how many more he could have had if he wasn't so hurt...Would 25 been enough to give the guy some credit? And 4 years ago he led the league in sacks...

Tough break for him. He plays a physical sport and a position that takes a lot of beatings. His body is just wearing out. So while I liked him and he was a great person, it was a smart move to get out of his contract.

And over the last 5 years, the only player in the NFL with more sacks is Jared Allen.

Because of our cap problem I totally agree. If we didn't have such a cap problem, including the years when it forced us to restructure him and make his 2014 hit as big as it was, I would have liked to have been able to roll the dice one more time. But, this year we made the right call even if he is a beast because we just couldn't afford him. Great player and a great guy.

Semi-related...Read a tweet the other day from one of the DMN guys (Goose maybe?) saying that over like the last 5 years the DE/OLBs taken in the second round have averaged something like 1.7 sacks in their first year. So let's not expect Demarcus II year one from the kid.

Another interesting stat from the Cowboy/Redskin replay on NFLN. Think I have this right: Romo has the highest career QB rating (around 114???) in the 4th Qtr of any QB in history. But, in games when we are tied or losing with less than 5 minutes or less it drops to like 75...

I think the team will miss him, but it was time to move on. Gotta admit its gonna be quiet around here without that Blue fellow bashing Ware in every thread.

being constantly double-teamed has been taking a toll on his body for several years.

I'll agree that losing him isn't going to be as devastating as some seemed to think. I always liked him, and I hope he's great for Denver, but Dallas dumped him about a year later than they should have, back when they might have been able to get something for him.

Man, no offense, but what team have you been watching the last 10 years? Ware was an absolute stud for Dallas, the ONLY times he wasn't great on the field for Dallas were the times he was playing hurt. Ware, Witten and Romo are three of the toughest Cowboys of all time IMO. We have plenty of guys that would just sit and take a check instead of gutting up and playing through pain

His playing through pain may have shortened his career. I respect him and all players who don't let injuries keep them off the field. Now some fans do need to understand and accept why some players in all sports decide not to play through injury.
