What free agents have the Knicks ever attracted in the last decade? Melo was a trade. Players can be stars anywhere these days it's a different world. KD is the second biggest star in the league in one of the smallest markets. LeBron in Cleveland, Peyton Manning in Indy and Rodgers in Green Bay. They don't need NY like say Reggie Jackson did back in the day
