Interesting read (From a Sharks Site).
Basically asking if Dean was actually just lucky in building the 2012 and 2014 teams, since he's made some questionable signings and then his most recent building of Team USA for the World Cup of Hockey.
The Daily Chum: Dean Lombardi doesn’t know why the Kings are good
Only part I really don't think is valid is Quick's Contract. His cap is a pretty good number and he makes significantly less ($5.8mil/year) than a lot of elite goaltenders (And about $3mil/year less than Lundqvist's $8.5mil/year). He even makes less than Corey Crawford ($6mil/year). Pekka Rinne at $7mil/year. Carey price $6.5mil/year. Kari Let-one-in $5.9mil/year.
But as for the article, it's hard to fault Lombardi for some of his moves to strike when the Kings are in "win now" mode, but he gave up an incredible haul for Lucic, only to lose him for nothing.
