I have yelled on the bench when I was pissed at my coaches. I was a captain. I cannot believe this is a fucking story.

yelling out to your coach your fucking crazy to leave me on the bench or thats a bad idea is one thing. personally insulting him is another thing. you need every guy on that bench in a uniform, track suit and suit on the same page in the same direction. having a captain personally insult your ultimate leader is a story. if the caps win the cup this year then he could call him a cork sucker for all he cares but fizzle out in the 1st or 2nd round I would think leadership is a big issue and its moments like these that show it. im just glad I dont see that on my team.

It's more of a fat fuck story than a fucking story. Yelling fucking by itself wouldn't even make sense... unless it was in response to a very specific question.

Yelling in another direction, not at your coach, about your coach or the situation....whatever...it is a tense situation, i am just saying that in a league where people punch each other in the face, the PC level is pretty fucking high. Why aren't people talking about the shit between Tirtirella and Thorton?

There it is. Not to pick on Mattola, but this is the conclusion people will erroneously jump to. Again, OV has TOLD Bruce he's okay with being called out or yelled at by him if that's what is needed. He understands that role. He just wants to be in the game and he's pissed. He's taken on whatever role the team needs him to take. He's actually been a GREAT defensive player this year (save last night). He just wants to win. If it happens repeatedly (see: T.O.), yeah, it's a problem. But it hasn't and it's not who OV is. He's just a passionate guy and it spills over at times. Not a big deal.

Ovecjhkin said it was fine, celebrated the tying goal, assisted on the winning goal. Bourdeau said it was fine and even joked about it. Why should we continue to analyze it. This is soooo stupid.

Im just pointing out why it was/is a story. now that Ovie has talked about it and BB talked about it its over. but it WAS a story.

There is nothing wrong with swearing out of frustration on the bench/ice. There is definitely something wrong with insulting your coach. Unacceptable. Anyone who doesn't see the problem in this clearly has no morals. Power is delegated to certain individuals for a reason.

This was the most commented on hockey thread of the past 24 hours on here. When people read about it and then feel compelled to comment, that makes it a "story," no?

It's a 24/7 business now. There are like a dozen legit TV channels and a couple radio stations in every major city dedicated solely to sports. Blogs, Twitter, etc. They need to feed that beast, so it's GOING to get covered.
