All this sky is falling, fire Chip Hale nonsense, is ridiculous. Let me remind you how the 2001 WS season started.

1 04-03-2001 at Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 W 1-0
2 04-04-2001 at Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 W 2-0
3 04-05-2001 at Los Angeles Dodgers 5-7 L 2-1
4 04-06-2001 vs St. Louis Cardinals 9-12 L 2-2
5 04-07-2001 vs St. Louis Cardinals 4-8 L 2-3
6 04-08-2001 vs St. Louis Cardinals 4-9 L 2-4
7 04-10-2001 vs Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 W 3-4
8 04-11-2001 vs Los Angeles Dodgers 5-11 L 3-5
9 04-12-2001 vs Los Angeles Dodgers 4-5 L 3-6
10 04-13-2001 at Colorado Rockies 7-3 W 4-6
11 04-14-2001 at Colorado Rockies 8-9 L 4-7
12 04-15-2001 at Colorado Rockies 7-10 L 4-8

That is right, we started out 4-8 that year. And RJ got rocked, giving up 9 earned runs in one of those games. So just chill the fuck out.

I've been measured in my disappointment. I'm still paying attention and haven't written them off but it sure is a dismal start.

I agree it's absurd for fans to ask for Hale to be fired. How is this start his fault? Was he not supposed to start Greinke the first two times? Or Miller all three times? This start is on the players. His lineups look terrible sometimes but if you look on the bench there's not a ton of depth at the moment.

Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling during 2001-2002 had arguably the greatest two year run for a 1-2 punch in baseball history. Greinke and Miller do not compare. No players nowadays compare. Plus Johnson and Schilling dominated during the steroid era which makes what they did even more impressive. Beyond them, the actual 2001 lineup was unbelievably amazing. And they were the best defense in the league.

This current Diamondbacks team is unproven. Sometimes they look great but they are inconsistent. Even Ahmed has made a few errors already this month and he is only out there for his defense. The outfield defense is atrocious in center and left field. Only Peralta in right field is a good defender. Goldschmidt has had a really bad start to the year and the pitching staff has been horrible. Luckily for the Diamondbacks, the rest of the West has also been bad so they are not in some kind of deep hole they have to make up.

I think that's the key to the analogy...Shelby Miller is nowhere near the Schilling #2 punch that team had. Greinke is nowhere near RJ yet, but at least he has that potential.

I know it's early, but if they don't make the playoffs, looking back to see they lost like 10 games to the Rockies is going to stand out.
