Just read this. Incredible. Good to hear he's in a good place. Everyone takes for granted that even though these guys are millionaires we see on tv, that they're real people too. Real struggle with everyday life and even more so after not being able to play a game that they've identified with for so long.

Not only that most didn't make crazy money like they do now. A mid level guy like Miles, after taxes and agents fees, is lucky to have a few million or two in the bank to last his whole life. Not homeless by any means but not Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous either

Dude, Darius had a 66 million dollar contract, but no life skills.

That is not pennies, now nor then.

I'm happy to see he's doing better.

But, stories like his and Robert Swift are cautionary tales and I'm glad the league is trying to prevent others from going down the same path.

Everything is not about LeBron...

But, he grew up in a toxic environment just like guys like Iverson.

Yet, he empowered his circle of friends by creating self sustaining opportunities, instead of giving out handouts and ending up broke.

Love him or hate him, he is a remarkable individual.

It's too bad guys like Miles didn't have anyone to show him another way.

Yeah, the NBA should beat rookies over the head with showing/teaching them how Lebron has handled his money and helped his friends and family.

It's easy to say "These guys must be really stupid to make all that money and end up broke".

But how many people could get handed millions of dollars at age 18-21 and be expected to handle it well, especially when they've never had anything growing up.

The best piece of advice I ever heard was advice for lottery winners. Basically, it was...if you win the lottery...move to a new house, change your phone number and only give the new address and phone number to your most trusted family and friends. Otherwise, everyone who ever even thought they knew you will be tracking you down with their hands out.
