When Eakins was passed over for Carlyle, so many analytics-crazed Leaf fans went ballistic and claimed the Leafs were losing a future superstar coach who was in tune with the modern game in favour of a relic.

While not defending Randy in the least, it's kind of nice to know Eakins was, by and large, a shit coach and the Leafs would've probably been even worse off than they wound up being were he in charge. Some people have nothing better to do than whine.
