******Dion Phaneuf joke goes here ******SOAPBOX: They have to implement a system of monitoring every players brain health. The technology exists, and I know how it's being implemented at a much lower level, so they have no excuse not to use it in the pros.
I remember a couple years back they were comparing injuries now to the 80's-90's and one conclusion that was drawn is that players in previous generations had less padding and protection and their game reflected that fact. They learned "good" habits that helped to lessen the likelihood of certain injuries because they came from a generation of players who couldn't really on their equipment to prevent most injuries. Just another angle on the debate that I thought interesting.
I can see that. Even in beer leagues, it's invariably the guys who are wearing full cages that are skating around with their sticks at head level. they feel invincible, and seem to think that every one else is, too.
