The Mariners have a ton of arms and the Red Sox have a lot of young positional players/prospects. So, theoretically, they match up there. But the specific match might not be there at all.
Young positional players such as besides?. It is a horrible match without a 3rd team and now that you got Crochet there isn’t a 3rd team with anything of value to Seattle. Castillo is worth a lot more than Casas but I’m sure Red Sox fans would think a one for one deal is fine.

The good young arms are worth more than Casas, but I don’t think Castillo necessarily is. Castillo doesn’t have a terrible contract but he’s clearly in the decline stage. Casas has a lot more potential and he makes almost nothing. I can see why this swap makes little sense for either team, actually.

I agree with you on Castillo, but other Mariners fans still think he is the ace. I am arguing with them on twitter right now. He is a #3 outside of T-Mobile. 4.25 road era. That is not an ace.

But the young arms aren’t remotely available. The Cubs and Orioles are the only teams that could even make a legitimate offer for Gilbert/Kirby/Woo/Miller. Casas’ value is his potential but that isn’t what a contending team trades a starter for (granted Jerry Dipoto is a fucking moron and has done that trade before)

Like I said it’s just a bad fit cause it’s understandable on both sides that Castillo is worth more from a Seattle perspective and Boston thinks that is more than fair or even maybe too much to give up. They line up with a third team but that is the entire problem with Castillo or the Mariners in general is there has to be a third team otherwise there isn’t a reason to trade Castillo.
