Hey Dash, just as food for thought.....say you were posed with a hypothetical that you were the Calgary GM and you HAD to trade Iginla or Kipper to better the franchises future. Whom would you trade and what would you want in return?

This Flames season might be ruined almost entirely by the media/fanbase. There is no positive mojo about this team and there's only so good a team can be with so much uncertainty around it. You almost have to fire Sutter, if only to turn around the cycle of negative attention this team is getting.

Case in point: The Flames win three in a row and I hear nothing about them, but the second that they lose three in a row and the media is carving the knives. I've also never heard a fanbase so quiet during a one goal game on TV as that crowd last night.

If this team played in Florida they'd be a playoff team, but I don't know if they are in Calgary.

I'm not dash, but I'm a Flames fan. If I had to trade one of them, my choice is trade both and get the youngest, best players/highest picks you can/cap room. If they have to trade one, you might as well just gut the team.

this one was worth a cell phone pic of my TV (for some long lost GNT)
sorry for piling on, Dash... I didn't want this pic to be a single use thing.

That's a good point Trep. I guess it makes no sense to just trade one at their current ages.

Man, that's a tough one...I think for years of service (especially during the dank, dark years of the "Young Guns") and that I'd like to see Iggy hoist the Cup, I'd look to trading Jarome to a contending team for a top six forward and a combination of top prospects/first round selections.

The St. Louis Blues have some intriguing forwards (T.J Oshie, David Perron, Patrick Berglund). I've always like Travis Zajac on the Devils as well.

I agree with all of the above...The Calgary media have had a hate for Darryl Sutter for some time now and the sharks are definitely smelling the blood in the water.

Not a Flames fan, but I see a lot of their games.

The thing was that during those wins they didn't look all that good (or at least consistent) while they were winning. As Dash pointed out they were dissected last night.

Some notes:

To make the playoffs the Flames need to be gritty and give full effort at all times; so far I don't see that consistent effort.

The Flames do not have much offensive skill up front: When Matt Stajan is on your first PP unit, you have issues.

The defense needs to play to their strengths: Bouwmeester is supposed to be a mobile D-Man. He sure doesn't look it these days. Sarich needs to stop reading his pay stubs and start playing like a tough, stay-at-home guy. Giordano and Regehr are solid right now; let's hope neither of them goes down.

Give Kipper a bit more time off; Cut him back to even a 60-65 game pace FOR NOW and he'll be that much better down the stretch.

Campoli and Giordano on the same blueline? Can you ever have too many Italians?

bring back Bert, Lombardi and Cammy but stop before you bring Muzzati out of retirement

i think the Sutter clan also have alot to do with the way the national media covers the team ... I heard someone say recently that even when the mic is off Dutter is about as personable as a Kubota tractor

Yes, I can't deny that Darryl Sutter could be more accomodating when dealing with the media...

/That said, Eric Francis is a toolbag...He must have some comprimising pictures of Ron McLean to get on the Satellite Hotstove on HNIC.

Oh, my sides, they're hurting, stop it filo :p

My sarcasm meter is off the charts right now. At least I put the :L after it right? No? Oh ok, I'll go sit in the corner.

You curmudgeonly Flames fan. Just for that I'll need Kipper for Niemi, Wallin, Huskins and Setoguchi.

EDIT: By the way, I totally imagined you saying that like Mike Myers (Axe Murderer, not the Halloween one.....wait) would have said that.
