Simple exercise. Build a team from your team’s former players. As long as they played in the minor leagues for your team, or were rostered in the waiver game on the 40 man, they count for this. For the Orioles:

C- Jonah Heim (TEX)
1B- Christian Walker (ARI)
2B- Joey Ortiz (MIL)
SS- Jose Iglesias (NYM)
3B- Manny Machado (SD)
LF- Tyler Nevin (OAK)
CF- Ryan McKenna (SFG)
RF- DJ Stewart (NYM)
DH- Justin Turner (TOR)

Bench:
C Austin Wynns (CIN)
INF Darnell Hernaiz (OAK)
INF Jace Peterson (FA/ARI)
INF/OF Jahmai Jones (NYY)
OF Aaron Hicks (FA/LAA)

The strength here is clearly the infield. Turner, Walker, Ortiz, Machado and Heim is a respectable top of the order. The outfield is pretty dreadful offensively and defensively, and we’re stretching to find bench players for a taxi-squad deal but both Peterson and Hicks started on MLB rosters this year, so they count for this.

SP- Kevin Gausman (TOR)
SP- Nestor Cortez Jr (NYY)
SP- Jack Flaherty (DET)
SP- Eduardo Rodriguez (ARI)
SP- Alex Cobb (SFG)
SP- Kyle Gibson (STL)
SP- Wade Miley (MIL)
SP- DL Hall (MIL)

RP- Jordan Lyles (FA/KC)
RP- Shawn Armstrong (TB)
RP- TJ McFarland (OAK)
RP- Jorge Lopez (CHC)
RP- Miguel Castro (ARI)
RP- Hunter Harvey (KC)
RP- Evan Phillips (LAD)
RP- Tanner Scott (MIA)

The strength here lies with starting pitching. While Rodriguez,Cobb, Miley and Hall have been hurt most/all of the year, if healthy, this rotation doesn’t have enough spots even for six pitchers. Gausman, while having a down year, does create an intimidating top 3along with Cortez and Flaherty.

The bullpen is strong at the end. Scott and Phillips are shutdown options, Harvey and Castro are solid in set-up roles but the rest of the bullpen are weak middle-relief options at this point in their careers.

What did I learn while doing this process again? It still sucks we let Christian Walker go, but we had prime Chris Davis and it took him longer still to reach his potential being stuck behind Goldschmidt. Mike Elias has done a lot of great things here in Baltimore, but he absolutely whiffed on Scott, Phillips and Cortez and unlocking their potential. However, he has taken many more reclamation projects and turned them into productive major league players so ultimately, there isn’t much room to complain.

Off the top of my head…

C - Joey Bart
1B - Kris Bryant
2B -
SS - Brandon Crawford (hurts to call him a “former” Giant, and to acknowledge that he makes this list only because there isn’t anyone else)
3B -
OF - Bryan Reynolds
OF - Connor Joe
OF - Adam Duvall
DH - Joc Pederson

SP - Zack Wheeler
SP - Luis Castillo
SP - Tyler Anderson
SP - Kevin Gaussman
SP - Carlos Rodon

Honirable Mention
Andrew McCutchen
Mike Tauchman
Zach Littell

Obviously, the class here is the rotation. Rodon would be the #5 starter with Littell as the swing man.

Bold move having 38 year old Carlos Santana as your catcher

I just remembered. The Phillies also had 38 year old Carlos Santana. I'll put him at DH and Hoskins at first. I also have Whit Merrifield at utility. Now the team is shaping up!

Forgot about JD Davis for 3B. He is having a horrific year, but there isn’t anyone else.

Also, throw John Brebbia in the pen and Sean Manaea as another swing-man
