Sounds like a depth and ST signing as if we do sign a guy like Woodson he wouldn't be playing ST.

I can't envision us not taking S high in the draft and I don't envision Dahl being a starter.

Also from what I understand he set Punt coverages for the Rams which was Goldson's job for us so I would imagine he's going to be used in that capacity.

Let's just hope we stay very healthy at Safety and never need to see him play defense.

Dahl has to be a depth/ST guy. Can't imagine he'll be starting.

this sounds better...minimal risk, cheap solid backup

Hearing Dahl's deal is 3 years for $5M with $800K to sign. That certainly doesn't preclude the team from signing Charles Woodson. However...

… from everything I'm hearing about Dahl – smarts, knowledge of division – it sure sounds like he'd be a good mentor for a high draft pick

So 1.6 million per season for a guy who was a starter last year. Not bad. I like that they're not neglecting the small stuff.

I trust Baalke, but this move is a head scratcher. Seems like a waste of money/cap space. Too much money for a backup/ST player if it's true that his deal is 3 years 5 million

I'd rather have Woodson

In the playoffs, Woodson was horrible. He wasn't able to catch Kaepernick when he had a perfect angle to do so. Kaep smoked him, got to the endzone, and kissed his gun.

Woodson is one of my favorite players, but I don't see him adding value to our defense at this stage of his career.

He's got to add more than Dahl.

I'm completely underwhelmed by this Dahl cat.

To be fair not a lot of guys are going to catch up to Kaepernick once he gets into the open field so I wouldn't hold that as a major knock against Woodson.
