Only if you buy into it. Griffins the man, unless he shows definitively that he can't handle the position. Then it's a no brainer to try someone else

I wouldn't be too concerned. RGIII only played one drive - can't determine much from a single drive.

And Cousins was playing against a 2nd string defense.

Exactly. It's all just practice and time to see 2s and 3s and what they can do...especially in preseason game 1.

Could KC be ahead of Rg3 in knowing the offense ? sure , and i think he looked sharp and more comfortable

RG3 should read that nfl.com article and apply himself

Capt Kirk has had more experience in working that style of offense. Doesn't surprise me in the least that he'd look more comfortable or might indeed be ahead of Griff at this point...and that first throw from KC also looked familiar from a couple last year..that said with one series from Griffin, hard to evaluate much of anything. Game 3 will be very interesting.

I am a fan of Cousins and don't think there will be any controversy. He does have an advantage considering he ran a pro style offense at Michigan State. First of all there is a lot invested in Griffin. Secondly they just brought a new coach into work him so no one is going to give up on quickly and hand the job to Cousins.

As others said Griffin only threw 4 passes the other night. Cousins had a good read and throw on the slant route. We also know Cousins has a tendency to put the ball in danger. Griffin would have to get hurt or play VERY badly for them to consider a change,

:becky: not a bad place to be, especially with so many question marks that need to be answered with Griffin, much as I support him.

Don't buy into the rhetoric. Look, Cousins turns the ball over far too much. Griffin is our guy for the immediate future. The whole Cousins better than Griffin ploy on NFL network is bogus BS to talk about. No one including Cousins is buying into such BS either.

Cousins better all-around QB, but RG3 is more dangerous and has a better resume as starter. I think Cousins will have a better career, but RG3 is better right now.

Cousins looks to be a serviceable NFL quarterback. But in IMO, when the chips are down...there are only a handful of QB's which have the ability to put a team on their back to win a football game.

...and, RG3 appears to be one of them. I like Cousins a lot, and glad he is a Redskin...but RG3 is a game changer...plain and simple.

What exactly is the basis for your opinion? Granted RG3 has some issues to work out & - as has been discussed here numerous times - this season will tell a lot about his progression. However - I also believe that the honeymoon for Cousins is pretty much over. He has some very good points but also has some flaws. He has had several chances to prove himself & the overall results have not been that great.

As mentioned previously he turns the ball over a lot (or has at least in most of his games with the Skins). Every time he appeared to be showing signs of being a very good QB he counters it with a major mistake. I don't believe that in this era that most QBs slip to the 4th round if they are that good. I hope for the best for Cousins. However - just like some folks make this case for RG3 - Cousins is also a product of a media hype machine to a certain degree.

How quickly we forget last season when Cousins sucked monkey balls. 4 TDs 7 INTs. I'm gonna pass on how 'comfotable' or 'good' he looks in practice against a #2 defense

This is ridiculous. Must we go here again.

Cousins has had his chances in the real games and more often than not, didn't get it done.

Plus playing slightly above average against 3rd string puds don't count.

I hope your not serious no quarterback would have been successful in those last 3 games the team was done and Mike Shanahan didn't care because he knew he was getting fired

Of course Cousins didn't make such an excuse.

I don't know how some of these threads take such funny turns. Time fills I guess.

It is quite obvious that Robert is going to get every chance to be the QB and if Cousins becomes the starter something has gone horribly wrong. That isn't a knock on Cousins, just a fact.

Agree & you could make a case for several players on the Skins not getting a fair shake last season due to internal turmoil, cap sanctions, ST problems, etc. Who cares - life isn't fair.

This thread is kind of silly & my argument on this is that RG3 has a significantly higher upside than Cousins and - while he had issues last season - he did have an entire season of success which you can't say for Cousins (could happen in the future - but his only successes thus far have been for a game or part of a game).

Realistically - I believe that Cousins will turn into a decent but not great QB in the NFL. That is what you should expect for a 4th rounder. For every R. Wilson or Brady that is picked in the later rounds & does very well there are tons of guys picked lower who never make it or have very average NFL careers.

Any media site that makes statements like this is basically doing it to stir up controversy & attract attention. I wouldn't put much stock into things like this.
