One thing that was overlooked on BJGE's fumble.... Though it was a great play by a weakside linebacker, he wasn't going to get the first down anyway. Peko comically missed a block on that play. He's not a fullback.

There were 3 guys in the backfield. Peko missed his man, but even if he had gotten his guy, there were 2 more ready to take him down.

GB went all out blitz and it paid off. Much like the Bengals fumble/TD...all out blitz and it worked.

BTW -- Charles was active.... But not good enough to play fullback. Or tight end for that matter.

There was a play against the Steelers as well where Peko was brought in on short yardage. John Gruden started drooling over Peko being in as fullback, and when Peko went flying and BJGE got the first down, Gruden was (must have been) slobbering all over himself thinking Peko absolutely layed someone out for BJGE to get the first down. As he was going crazy, they showed the replay, Peko either missed his assignment or missed the block (BJGE did all the work), and Gruden all of a sudden went quiet.

these bengals coaches need to realize that they aren't geniuses who thought of these things first. This is not college football.

I am still in the camp we don't need any damn lead blocking FB. We should be in single back formation 90% of the time, and when we do have a lead blocker, it can be Gresham, Eifert, Smith, Charles who moved in place from motion to confuse the defense. Peko is okay for straight up, "bust a bitch in her mouth yo" type of grind it out 3rd and short or GL, etc.

Not Gresham. He couldn't (or won't) block my little sister.

I am not an advocate of a lead blocker typically anyways, as your RB should be able to find a hole that has an opening, not run behind a big guy who may or may not make the hole better. Sometimes FB's get blocked into the hole and turn what would have been a 1 or 2 yard gain into a 2 or 3 yard loss.

I hate FB's unless you are using them as a pass catching option on check downs.

Peko did earn a 1.0 from PFF for his blocking v the Steelers(4 snaps, I believe) , so I would assume he hit somebody, somewhere, on at least one play.

Come on Doug. You are going to take PFF's word over Flaming? What in the hell are you thinking? Flaming is the gospel here mang!

1.0 is essentially their highest end of "neutral" or "average".

And I don't disagree with that grade. I'm sure he did just fine while he was in there, but the point myself and grad were making was just because he's big and he'll hit someone hard, it doesn't mean he knows what the heck he's doing. And that one missed block/assignment that I mentioned worked out just fine this time around, but at some point it may end up costing the team a 1st down or a TD.

The question to ponder is, on those 4 plays, having Conner in there, would he have done better and earned a higher grade?

I trust PFF's word over my own. I respect what they do and how they do it.

The irony here though is YOU are the one that takes (veiled) shots at any stats that don't agree with your biased opinion about a player, particularly Dalton, yet you're trying to call me out.
