Admission Questionnaire for treatment of Battered Fan Syndrome:
Are you suffering emotional abuse and humiliation by the team you love, yet keep coming back for more? Are you convinced they would have won if you hadn't somehow jinxed them? Or if maybe you were a better fan? Are you constantly thinking of ways to help them be better and save the relationship, only to find out that they're not willing to make those changes? They promised it would be different this year.... They promised there have been changes... They always promise... and you believe, because you love them and want them to succeed!
It's not your fault. You may be suffering from Battered Fan Syndrome. And luckily for you, there is help available here at the Institute for the Hopelessly Attached
Do you identify with any of these scenarios?
1….I have developed this twitch. It seems to start on Friday and become progressively worse throughout the weekend. It is so bad at times I find it difficult to hold the liquor bottle steady while self medicating.
My dogs seem to be giving me the Evil Eye.
2.....the negative things in life are direct results of personal sins and shortcomings, if I were a better person, a positive person, I would have better things in life and our guys would never lose
3.....collective consciousness is the reason the team lost, negative thoughts have become commonplace over the last 20 yrs, OUR fans and players have allowed doubt to creep in, we want to believe but end up entertaining the idea that something negative will happen, so it does.
4..... I was feeling bad, I wore the same shirt as I did last year, wore my lucky game day undies, turned on the sign, and I even stood up the whole second half as always. Nothing helped. I gave them 10 confidence points so that is why we lost, I knew better.
5…..I'm a little battered and tattered. Yesterday really hurt, but I'm still behind this team all the way. I'm not about to quit on them. They’ll get better, I’m sure of it….they’ll be better I tell you, I know it....I just do…gotta be better, just gotta….they will….they have to…..I know they have to……they will, they must! What happens if they don’t? Can’t think that way, gotta stay positive.
