Holy shit this thread read my mind. I just posted a thread about the NFL combine. It had me immediately thinking that there's going to be descent among Husker fans seeing the way Tim Miles is and what he's doing... They're going to look at lovable Tim sMiles and all the amazing things he's done in such a short time and juxtapose that with the abrasive and contemptuous Bo Pelini and how he's basically dragged our program through the mud with his only saving grace being how much worse the coach before him produced.

A fair argument.

I will say this.

During the Penn St game Thursday night, I pointed out that Miles was jawing everybody and at one point I thought I saw him yell "fuck' at Petteway when he was giving him the business one-to-one. Later I saw the replay and they blurred Miles' mouth at that point, so I was right.

Miles can be intense.

I'm going to point out a difference though as I see things.

Miles seems to building a program from scratch.

Bo inherited a program w/ talent.

When that was live I thought how easily we can forget that the mild mannered guy we see in the interviews is still an intense, hard driving coach of a D-1 basketball program.

Yeah. I'd never seen that side of Miles before. He was rippin' ass that night. A couple of times you could hear the audio on the TV.

They were huddling up at a time-out and Miles yelled "GET OVER HERE" at someone. He was pissed.

Miles can be intense.

I saw a behind the scenes video of Miles when he was at CSU.......

He says "fuck" a lot. It literally might be his favorite word. He is way more intense than people realize.

You have to imagine that he is intense.......a guy who is as happy go lucky as Miles would never gain the respect of his players the way he has if he isn't intense.

That's also why players like Biggs had to leave. Couldn't handle it.

Miles however represents our university in a positive light with the media and can put a cap on his intense side. Pelini has proven he doesn't give a fuck about how he represents the university or how it effects recruiting or public support etc.

Link substantiating this tiring argument?

Bo inherited a program w/ talent.

Nebraska football's always going to have talent.

But Miles seems like a real players coach, Bo seems like a coach that players hate.

I've had coaches like Miles. When you play club sports, you run into coaches like that a lot.

They learn how to turn on the charm with the parents who are paying for their kid to be there, but as soon as the parents are gone, they're intense, in your face and don't mince words. It's called being a good coach. A smart coach.

Some just don't do a very good job of "hiding their crazy".

This is pretty spot on.
