I watch a lot of college football. No, I take that back.........I watch all college football games. That is why I am so pissed lately about how the BCS formula sets up to favor teams in specific conferences. When you know your team is playing quality opponents, it is frustrating.

I looked into the opponents that each team in the top 10 has faced thus far, and added up the total records for each team's opponents.

Rank.....Team................Opp Win %
1).........Nebraska...........62%
2).........Oklahoma..........59%
3).........LSU..................58%
4).........Oklahoma St......55%
5).........Boise St............55%
6).........Oregon..............51%
7).........Alabama............50%
8).........S. Carolina.........49%
9).........Arkansas............48%
10).......Stanford.............43%

Does this tell the whole story? No. But look above..........this is why it pisses me off that South Carolina and Arkansas are ranked ahead of Nebraska at this point.

In the grand scheme of things, does it mean anything? Yes, actually. Because teams like Auburn and LSU will get more credit than they deserve when they mop the floor with teams like South Carolina and Arkansas.

I know, Iknow..............Nebraska just has to take care of business and the Big 10 Championship and Rose Bowl is still out in front of us. I get that.........you don't even have to tell me.

But this is my fucking team dammit! And I doth not like when we don't get the respect we deserve en sech

Rep to you for having no life :)

Also, I kind of like flying under the radar...of those teams you mentioned, here are the teams that could (will) have at least 1 loss by seasons end.

LSU/Alabama
Oregon/Stanford
Okla/Okla St.
So Car will lose to someone
Arkansas is due too...
That makes 5 of these teams are pretty much guaranteed a loss coming up in the next 3-4 weeks. It is better to loss early than late. If we run the table we will be in the top 5 in the BCS. If we had been unbeaten & lost one of our last 3-4 games we wouldn't be. It's gay how that works but it really is a fact.

Shit, look at Oregon! Lost to LSU in week one. Made it all the way back to top 10 status & COULD work their way into the NC game with a win Vs. Stanford & Okla St. loss.

By the way, let me just state that I do understand that LSU and Alabama are both great teams. I wasn't taking a shot at those teams..........I was just taking a shot at the fact that one of those teams will lose next week and it won't even matter........they have it made with the preconceived notion that the SEC = NFL

I know...If we get past the 2 Kittens & the Hugh Jackman's ok, we'll start to see the BCS shit take shape. If we're 10-1 at that point we'll probably be 5-6 then with 2 to play.

Yea, I hear ya. There is just no way that we should be behind South Carolina at this point in my opinion.

They haven't done a damn thing, and they have drama all over on that team. Their defense is decent.........but their entire offense went out the door when Lattimore had that injury.

No doubt in my mind that we are better than that team.

Who the fuck cares where we are ranked now. All that matters is the end of the season. Those teams you bitch about have the strength of their schedule in front of them. Ark and SC play each other this week. So one of them will go away. Alabama or LSU will obviously lose but will stay in front of us. This 2 teams are the 2 best teams in the country and I really don't think it is close. They are the most complete teams. I would not complain at all to see them play again for the NC.

But back to the point, freaking out over rankings in the middle of the season is ridiculous. 9 times out of 10 it works itself out by the end of the year and then all the moaning seems dumb.

Jed. Moaning and bitching and interest in the rankinga is why the bcs is around and will continue to be around.

Shit. NASCAR is trying to copy with that 10 race thingy. They should have people vote on the best drivers

Great thread actually. We just need to start a "BCS" thread where we can all bitch about how this system sucks. Without a doubt we should be ahead of SC

With the way we have played at times this season, I just feel fortunate to be in the top-10. With 10 mins left in the 3rd of the Ohio St game, I'm sure many us doubted bowl eligibility at season's end.

Nah see, you're trying to lump me into that category of people who "bitch and moan" about where we're ranked because somewhere in my delusional mind I still think we can back our way into the BCS Title game. That is in fact not what I'm doing. I'm simply standing up for my team right now...........I love them, and they deserve more respect..........that is all.

Michigan State DID NOT come into that game flat as everyone is saying they did . We fucking crushed them, because we are getting better, and we are THAT good.

Also, if we were to rematch Wisconsin right now, it would be a completely different outcome.

I can't say the same for Arkansas if they were to rematch Alabama right now.......

Fuck the SEC

JJM, I am not trying to lump you into anything. The only ranking that matters is 1 and 2. Other than that it means nothing. If we are out of the title hunt like you believe then why does it matter where we are ranked? South Carolina is out of it as well. So we are in the same boat. If there was a playoff then the ranking outside of 1 and 2 would matter.

As for us crushing Michigan St. I wouldn't go that far to put it all on us. For some reason MSU decided to go away from the running game that was working early. It was almost like us against Wisconsin. The MSU OC panicked and just decided to chuck the ball around. We got 5 of our 18 first downs due to penalty. Outside of Marlowe's 39 yard run, the longest run was 13 yards. Averaged 3.3 yards per rush. All we did was nickel and dime them to death and wear them out. Only 2 plays over 20 yards. By no means am I complaining about the performance because I have been tracking the big plays and yards pers each down all season and been saying we need to stop relying on the big plays but all we did was what we had to do to win that game. I dont believe we "crushed" them. They gave us some stuff and we took it. Very solid and satisfying game.

he is just trying to explain how the BCS is unfair in that all these preconceived notions go in to rankings when they shouldn't, and he feels, which i agree with, that certain conferences and teams are penalized because of these preconceived notions

I don't think the running game was working that spectacular for them........and there were probably a couple reasons they started throwing the football..........1) They were trailing 2 TDs to start the 2nd half, and our defense was stout, which meant the likelihood of them putting together two TD scoring drives wasn't good if they had to relying on running the football.............2) We were kicking the shit out of them. The physical aspect took over and Michigan State couldn't keep up on either side of the ball.

I think we crushed them. That is how football is supposed to be played. None of the fancy slinging the football around garbage.........just line 'em up and knock 'em down. See who's standing at the end. Nebraska was by far more up for the physical challenge, and we did it against one of the most physical football teams in the country.

Also, I think we did just fine on offense. Michigan State only gives up 228 yards per game the way it is.

Here's an impressive stat for Nebraska. They've only given up 10 sacks this season for a loss of 4.1 yards per sack. That leads the Big Ten.

A year ago, Nebraska gave up 29 sacks for an average of 6.72 yards per sack. Martinez has done a much better job of not taking the big sacks
