Finding a song about Tampa Bay is difficult, but finding one that can be connected to both teams is nearly impossible. That said, I found this blues gem__ "Tampa Bound," by Blind Blake dating back to 1926 that offers the Tampa connection and something that can be connected to an upcoming game.
"Tampa Bound," is a blues ballad about a man worried about the girl he left in Tampa, There was a lot unsaid and undone and he vows to return to "kill his lowdown blues!"
Enter the Washington Commanders, a team that left Tampa with a very soured taste in their mouths eighteen weeks ago with an opportunity to return to the place (Tampa) to "kill the blues" garnered from their first visit. Let's get some details about this game!
Washington Commanders vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Playoff Game Preview
Date: Sunday, January 12, 2025 Venue: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL Kickoff Time: 8:00 PM ET Broadcast: NBC/PeacockGame Overview
The Washington Commanders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to face off in a highly anticipated Wild Card playoff game. This matchup is a rematch of their Week 1 game, where the Buccaneers triumphed 37-20 over the Commanders. However, much has changed since then, and both teams have evolved significantly.Team Performance
Washington Commanders: Led by rookie sensation Jayden Daniels, the Commanders have had a remarkable season, finishing with a 12-5 record and securing the #6 seed in the NFC. Daniels has been a standout performer, throwing for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions, while adding 6 rushing touchdowns. The Commanders have shown resilience and the ability to win close games, making them a formidable opponent.Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Buccaneers, led by veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield, have also had a strong season, with a 10-7 record and clinching the NFC South title. Mayfield has had a career-best season, throwing for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns. The Buccaneers have a solid offense and a somewhat depleted defense that has been effective in critical moments.
Key Matchups
Commanders' Offense vs. Buccaneers' Defense: The Commanders' offense, led by Jayden Daniels, will be tested by the Buccaneers' defensive front, which has been solid throughout the season. The key will be how well Daniels can handle the pressure and make accurate throws against that tough defensive line. Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles threw a lot at Daniels in their previous meeting and will have to come up with a few new twists against the much wiser, experienced Commanders QB.Buccaneers' Offense vs. Commanders' Defense: The Buccaneers' offense, led by Baker Mayfield, will look to exploit the Commanders' defense. Mayfield's ability to connect with his receivers, especially Mike Evans, will be crucial in moving the ball down the field. As an aside, a key highly anticipated matchup between Mike Evans and Marshon Lattimore, a talent v. talent that is worth the price of admission based on their prior play against one another.
