What a stupid freakin move by an otherwise smart owner. You have a 4-2 team in a fight for the division and playoffs. You have home field advantage and a 6-0 team coming to town, and you're going to honor the opposing team's QB? Isn't the goal to make him feel as if he's in a hostile environment? If I were a Colts player, coach, or fan this would piss me off. There's nothing wrong with honoring the guy, but do it in the pre-season, or maybe during Manning's bye week (if possible). Bring him back after he retires and honor the hell out of him. We all know he's going into the HOF as a Colt, so what's the rush?

Wait until he's done. But of anyone to do it for, Peyton's the choice.

They were wrong to suck for luck.

I still do not buy into the fact that they were that bad.

Or that the QB's they had were the best they could get. Didn't they start a guy off the street at one time during that season?

I agree. It is true that Manning was the face of the franchise for many years, but this is a new team and sort of casts a shadow on the great performance of young Andrew. Luck is a great QB and looks to be quite the leader with his understated demeanor. Hopefully, he will take it in stride and show that while Manning is a past icon of the Indy Colts team, he has the goods to deliver in what will another brutal test for the new Colts. Talk about a tough schedule ...

I TOTALLY agree with this..in fact i'm constantly amazed that there has never been more conspiracy talk about this whole situation. there is no way in hell that getting that #1 pick was legit. Not only did they pull it off, but also managed to keep most everyone quiet about it.

There is speculation by sports talk radio here in Denver and local writers that this is a move intended to throw Manning off his pre-game ritual, not sure I buy that.

As far as it being a dumb move and the opposite of creating a hostile environment for an opposing QB, not sure you could do that. There will be a lot of Manning fans there. The way he left Indy left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

And Irsay's comments today that were less than complimentary of Manning's time in Indy were classless.

I hope Manning hangs 55 on the Colts this Sunday Night.

Seriously, does anyone expect the Colts fans to really create a hostile environment for Manning? They love him, it's not like they're going to be booing him.

If it's a video honor on the big screen, I have no issues. If it's anything more than that, then it gets weird.

I think it's weird anyway, honor him when he's done playing. Now??? are you that insecure with your decision to let him go? you need to pamper your ex girlfriend so her feelings aren't hurt and you can feel better about yourself? this is like petty high school stuff.

It's the NFL, people move on. The Packers didn't throw a party for Favre when he returned to town. There were plenty of greats, and yes, some greater than Manning that returned to his "home" on an opposing team. Get over yourself people.

I seriously doubt he regrets the decision to cut Manning and draft Luck. Why would he? I don't regret it, and most Colts fans don't, so I seriously doubt irsay does.

There was alot of animosity between the Packers and Favre after he left. This isn't the case with the Colts and Manning. For you to compare the two is laughable.

I wouldn't regret cutting manning either, it was the right decision, and I didn't just compare favre and the Packers there have been numerous players that have switched teams after a career with another. Announce him like everyone else, the crowd will cheer a little louder and move on.

save the "honor" for when he's retired, have him back, celebrate him like you should. To do it now is????? I don't even know what to call it. It's weird, it's why I don't understand it. The guy was awesome for the Colts, slob his knob when he's not trying to beat you, unless you're into that stuff.
