Methodology
Our list of college football’s most valuable teams is ranked by average football revenue across the 2015, 2016 and 2017 seasons, the three most recent for which financial data is available (2018 numbers won’t be reported until the end of the year). Revenues are rounded to the nearest million, and ties in revenue are broken using average annual operating profit. We rely on data reported to the NCAA and the Department of Education, and we’ve made adjustments to line items like contributions and royalties to correct for differences in accounting practices.

How ‘bout that.

22 straight years of sucking for my team and Washington finally moves ahead of us.

Guess when Nebraska starts winning 6 or 7 games, they’ll move back in front of the Huskies.

And no, I have no frigging clue if that will happen soon.

You ever see how much PAC schools make from TV revenue compared to the B1G and SEC? I'm surprised any PAC schools made that list tbh.

Those numbers are a 3 year average. Reading the article it looks to me like they're using 2018/2017/2016 data.

Nebraska didn't start getting Full Share from Big 10 until 2018. Therefore Nebraska should climb over the next two years.

I read lists like this with a grain of salt. Forbes is a helluva sorry place to get reliable financial information since they've been exposed numerous times having printed shoddy information that later got their ass in hot water. Yes, the programs listed are "making the most money" in all likelihood but what are the TRUE expenses and what are they REALLY making? There is no accounting for operating expenses, capital expenses, etc. No breakdown of administrative costs, general costs, etc. What about non-operating expenses? These look like numbers someone would use to go get a bank loan. They certainly aren't numbers you'd expect to see if they had to file an income tax return reporting their true P&L.

Not surprising to see Oregon above Washington...they just don't know how to run a successful athletic department.

So what you’re saying is Nebraska can beat Washington even with 4 win seasons?

That’s funny.

Thanks Larry Scott.
