I am talking about Burningman style hippies. This street fair today was almost exclusively Burningman people.

one side of my house doesn't have much room to the fence and trees, so the ladder up to the gutter (prob 25-30 feet up) was pretty damned vertical. If you lean a bit back when you climb, the ladder comes away from the house. The ground isn't flat, so the ladder was a bit too precarious. It started to slide on me when I got higher up, so I slowly came back down, leaning as far over as I could to balance that damned thing.
Got almost to the bottom when it finally gave way, and as I bailed to the relative safety of the trees, my foot got caught in the ladder rung (that was going the other way, of course). Felt an awful lot of stress in my ankle before my foot popped free.
Ended up on one foot, holding the ladder in one hand (it never did crash down), and the pressure washer wand still in the other hand. I was too damned stubborn to drop it lol.
all in all, i was damned lucky.
