Meh, it's around 75,000 people with students from Iowa State. I rarely go to Des Moines, unless it's for a hockey game. For me, Ames is just the right size. It's just big enough that you don't realize you live in an agriculture state.
75,000? Shit I thought you said small, that's 70,000 more people than where I live.. Holy crap! I'm a freakin hillbilly!

I spent the first 18 years of my life in a "town" of 315 people.............
I miss it......

for sure man, when I was living in Colorado Springs, me and my Army buddies went for a drive and did a huge loop, went south, passed through your town, back up north up to I70 and proceeded west back to Denver and back down south. Pretty neat trip.
My town is right around 48,000. and laid back.
I'm not "from" Colorado....
but I did spend a lot of my summers in Colorado....
Was in Evergreen most years, but I did spend about 3 weeks in leadville during the winter one year.
I remember when the Springs was a small town. Holy crap, they are givin Denver a run now. Don't know how long it's been since you've been there but my lord it's growin like a wildfire.
Probably similar to here in the summertime. And then the students come back, and the city is overcrowded with a bunch of teenage, shitty drivers.
Ever green is still nice. WAY TOO expensive to live there though.
If you spent 3 weeks in the winter in Leadville then you can handle the cold very well. lol.. Talk about a town of not much to do...
I hear a lot of good things about Colorado... It's def a place I'd like to see and really give consideration as to settling down out there. There and Washington state.
I left the Springs back in 98 my man. But I clearly remember the developments and construction going on, especially east of Springs and also heading out North.
I use to love doing high speed runs from Springs to Denver on my GSXR!!! Those were the days.
I loved Colorado, the only thing shitty was no ocean.. but the night life and abundance or weird chics was great. They got some bad ass thunderstorms and shit during the summer, I remember one winter the entire city got shut down like for a day or so.
