From what I read the DOJ subpoenaed the national archives for everything that was taken. After they received what was returned to them, there are still things missing and they believe they are to be in trumps possession

The other thing I saw too that if this warrant finds evidence of any other crimes outside of the missing classified documents that can be used against him also.

Chances are they seized electronics in case trump was stupid enough of scanning any documents that were taken and saving them to computer etc.

So that could lead to evidence of January 6 communications.

Trump to me is like a serial killer, he would save something as a memento/trophy

They knew the documents were there 2 months ago.

That is evidence of a crime, and probable cause for the search warrant.

Executing said search warrant means they can take everything and potentially uncover further evidence of crimes. But also doing so just on its own merit could make a martyr of him and inflame domestic terrorism. Just getting back docs he shouldn't have, even if they are incredibly sensitive, wasn't enough of a reason to act on what they knew already.



Feels like they got something new, a bulletproof idea of where what they are looking for is and went to get it. The documents are just the key they used to open the door. This could be massive.
