I'm a little surprised. I thought Latimer had finally turned the corner a bit and was a key cog on Special Teams.

That is too bad. I was hoping he would come back.

He was very good on special teams, and was starting to make an impact on offense.

Broncos made him an offer but his agent kept telling him he could get a lot more on the open market. Can't blame him for hitting FA but was hoping he was finally turning into something and that would happen with the Broncos.

Sorry to see him leave. Loved his efforts on STs. Best of luck with Giants.

Unfortunately, Latimer was drafted too early for his talent level and his fit in the Bronco's offense. As just a football player - he was top notch - a guy who always hustled on Special teams. He gets the handshake.

He was definitely a terrible fit for the system we were running at the time and what was expected of the WR's with Manning at the helm. I think it destroyed his confidence to get so little time on the field but with the Broncos competing for Super Bowls they couldn't just send out a guy onto the field that didn't know what he was doing. I think with what we are doing now he would have been a much better fit but hey wish him well with going to the Giants.

I will say though from what I have heard the Broncos offered him a fair deal. His agent told him he could easily get more on the open market and things did not end well between him and the Broncos. When the market wasn't quite as white hot as his agent had told him he had to settle for a deal less than what the Broncos had originally offered him. Kind of reminds me a bit of when Knighton turned down the Broncos because he thought it was an insult what they offered him. Come to find out it was the best deal he could have gotten as the market was not kind.

From my experience agents aren't always looking out for the player, rather themselves. I'd fire my agent at that point.

I would too. Just cost my family possibly millions of dollars because of bad advice.

and in Latimer's situation I just don't feel you have that ability to be greedy. He had a pretty good offer from what I understand.

Last I heard it was a 2-year/$12 million deal with $3 million in guarantees. He wanted at least half the contract guaranteed and was looking more in the $8 million a year range. I haven't heard the final numbers on his deal with the Giants but the rumor is he signed for less than $3 million a year.
