This is a player to keep an eye on. Word out of the OTA's is that he impressed both Marvin and Gruden with his athleticism and intelligence and may have a role in this year's offense.

excerpt~

"We thought highly of Cobi coming off of the Combine and watching game film and when we talked about him, we held him in high regard," said Bengals wide receivers coach James Urban. "We were happy to get him where he is. He's a fine player, he'll come in and compete, he'll fit into our room, work hard, play hard and do everything he can to help us make plays and help us win football games [...] Another point of intrigue. Having Cobi Hamilton and Mohamed Sanu on the field at the same time. "You know, there’s some comparisons there," said Urban. "I know Mohamed had 115 catches (his final season at Rutgers) and Cobi had 90 catches this past season. That’s a lot of balls between the two of them when you’re talking about those guys. They both know how to play the game. They both block, they both play hard and they do things that help you win football games and that’s what attracted us to him."

Gruden was also quick to point out how well sixth-rounder Cobi Hamilton has performed: He’ll challenge to make the squad and become a player. Cobi’s an exciting guy. He’s bigger than I thought he was. He’s taller. He’s got good stride to him, he’s got good hands, he’s tough. In Arkansas he ran a lot of crossing routes so we knew he wasn’t afraid to go across the middle. We like Cobi. We’re impressed with what he’s done so far.

Agreed. After the draft, I considered him one of the better values for the Bengals. He and Fragel were the two steals IMO.

Tate isn't going anywhere -- He's a Marvin guy. You'll be watching him return kick-offs all season. Just get used to it.

I imagine Hamilton will be a PS guy. Not sure where his space is on the team if Sanu is healthy.

I don't see the Bengals risk exposing him to waivers to get him to the Practice Squad. I think they're still feeling the sting of losing Dezmon Briscoe, who they really liked, and that's one of the main reasons they went with 7 WR's last season and kept Ryan Whalen on the active roster last year. If they really like him, which it sounds like they do, they'll keep him and make adjustments elsewhere on the roster.

The issue is going to be injuries..... Carrying 7 wide outs requires that you are somewhat healthy on opening day. If some key guys are banged up, but not hurt enough to be IRd then we can't keep 7. I suppose Cobi could help his cause by showing some talent on special teams, but that can't be determined until preseason.

BTW.... We lost Dez due to a weird technicality where Tampa signed him to their PS for more money. I'm not sure if they closed this loophole in the new CBA, but I haven't heard of it since.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' signing of Dezmon Briscoe still angers Cincinnati Bengals | Tampa Bay Times

P.S. I wonder if anyone is still butthurt that Dez doesn't play for us? For all the talk about his potential, Tampa was happy to let him walk away for nothing.

Who thinks we have a good team? We certainly don't. The results speak for themselves.

Just remember to give him some bird seed and water before you turn in for the night.

I think we'll do what we did last season, go to the playoffs and lose to the Texans (or Colts)
which would still mean that we're better than most of the teams in the league. I think we'll take one away from the Ravens and the Steelers. I know the Ravens won the superbowl and all, but they weren't that good all season.

He is 6'2" 212 pounds. His size and ability look alot like Mohammed Sanu. He came from a good program, so he should be okay.

This is our list of WR's...I mean who else would you keep for goodness sakes? They usually keep 6 maybe put 1 or two on practice squad?

Goard, Tyrone (Who?)
Green, A.J.
Hamilton, Cobi
Hawkins, Andrew
Jones, Marvin
Rogers, Taveon (Practice squad)
Roundtree, Roy (Nobody, practice squad fodder)
Sanu, Mohamed
Sanzenbacher, Dane (Does he really matter?)
Tate, Brandon (Cut his ass already for God's sake)
Whalen, Ryan
