Not that anybody cares, but I'd like to see a head coach / d-coordinator / o-coordinator who:
takes a look at who the keepers are on offense / defense, and what they do well, and designs an offense / defense that fits THOSE PLAYERS.
Not a "system guy."
Not a "well I need to find players that fit my system," horseshit.
A "Orakpo rushes the passer well, so we'll put him on the line," "I'd like RG3 to get better at reading defenses in the pocket, so I'll have him work on that in the offseason, but I also like his explosiveness, and ability to improvise plays when they break down, so I'll throw in a few read option plays, a few qb option plays, and a few bootlegs to get him out in space," kind of guy.
Do they exist anymore?
I was thinking that Andy Reid and Jim Harbaugh are those kinds of guys, and both have worked successfully with a noodle-armed but accurate passer in Alex Smith.
Harbaugh's philosophy - boot Smith out, lots of short passes, Vernon Davis in the slot (automatic mismatch every time).
Reid's philosophy - Limit your mistakes Alex, hit Jamaal Charles as much as you can, short quick throws, nothing downfield.
