I can't imagin Philly holdng onto Lee. He's got two more guaranteed years at $62M!(?)... and an easy option for another $15 in '16.... That'll be about $77 for Lee's 35, 36, & 37th year...

Would anyone take that? CBS says: Baltimore, Boston, LAA, LAD, NYY, St Louis & Texas....

Anyone that crazy?

Texas might get involved if Philly doesn't demand of Texas' top tier prospects and eats some salary.

I always giggle when reading the comments in stories like that. Anyone thinking Texas would trade Profar for the 36-38 years of Lee is insane. Philly would literally have to eat the entire contract for that to even begin to work.

Remember, Texas didn't want to throw extra years on the back end of the Lee deal for a reason. Anyone now expecting them to give up one of the top prospects in baseball for those exact years needs their head examined.

Olt and another player and Philly eating about $10-15MM would be about right.

HOpefully that would be a problem. The other option is that between now and then another starter goes down. We seem to be jaded in the SP department this year, so anything is possible.

Don't see the Cardinals making a run for Cliff Lee. We have plenty of young arms and depth to fill in for the injuries of Carpenter, Westbrook and Garcia.

Wainwright, Miller, Lynn, Wacha, Lyons have all been outstanding. Guys like Joe Kelly and Carlos Martinez can fill in too.

I think the Phillies are beginning to unload huge contracts as players age. I don't see anyone going after Lee that has already been mentioned. I see Howard next on the block as these guys are just consuming huge chunks of money and their return value is diminishing on the field.

I hope somebody takes him and his huge contract but I don't see many teams rushing to cut their own throats with that kind of massive scratch.

Will end up on either LA team.

That low performing LA team then will think they have a shot but will find out that once again spending a ton of money dosn't equal a championship.
