Had to turn it over to the other game. 1 inherited runner scored and 4 runs allowed in basically an inning.

How did we get 3 legit lotto tix AND get them to eat his entire contract?

FZ for executive of the year based on that trade alone.

Edit: we only got Beck from Atlanta (and an insta-dfa). My bad...

Still quite a trade. I'm also puzzled that Melancon became their closer, considering who else is in their bullpen after the trade deadline. I guess they felt the need to show why they paid so much to acquire him, in hopes the pre-SF version would re-appear.

How big of a role did he play in our short lived renaissance back in July?

Was he good for us then?

And he tried to cock it up today.

He actually had a decent year for us. Not up to his contract, but he was effective. Good enough to allow FZ to trade him away for a return AND a full contract dump.

They actually brought him in to be the 7th/8th inning guy, but their two other acquisitions sucked and/or got hurt and Melancon elevated to the closer role
