He is definitely in the zone ... and with his short compact swing he doesn't get lost in the middle like CD and JH tend to do (at least CD tended to do) and go weeks with fiddling with it to get it back in tune. He's hitting like he was hitting when he came up to replace Smoak back in 2010 right now except he's figured out lefties too now.

The biggest thing I see is that Moreland is hitting the outside fastball to left center again rather than trying to pull it. The guy is on fire right now.

Right. You can see that he's not settling for putting the ball in left-center ... it is by design. His second double tonight a prime example. Turning on the first one against Verlander with two strikes ... he knew exactly where that ball was going to be and jumped on it hard. So he can pull the trigger fast. Big long swing guys don't react that quickly.

Going the other way against LHPs and choking up with 2 strikes, just smart hitting by Moreland and now he's not getting robbed every other play

I got to give it to you Ham, with how many pitches Yu threw he did pitch pretty well, I was surprised they let him throw so many pitches. An AB that sticks out in my mind was the Victor Martinez at bat with the bases loaded.... foul after foul and I think they were all in the strike zone, 10 or more pitches that AB and the count was still only 1-2 or something like that before the sac fly.

This was a game I was looking forward to watching all week. Thought it would be a better pitching match but you guys shelled Verlander.

Yeah, and he had nowhere near his best stuff either.
