Mock Draft: Changes in the top 10

2. Rangers: Kahlil Watson, SS, Wake Forest (N.C.) HS
Some feel it’s down to Lawlar, Leiter or Watson here, with it a bit tough to ascertain if the Watson buzz up here is legit or if it’s because he’s playing (and playing well) while most others are done.

30 future leadoff hitters -- 1 per organization

Rangers: Josh Jung, 3B (No. 1/MLB No. 49)
The eighth overall pick in the 2019 Draft from Texas Tech, Jung is an advanced hitter who can handle all types of pitching and control the strike zone. He just joined Double-A Frisco this week after recovering from a stress fracture in his left foot, and he should produce high batting averages and on-base percentages while providing 20 or more homers per season.

The Rangers return home for a Fathers Day weekend set against the Twins. Two AL bottom dwellers don't inspire any anticipation for an action-packed series, but I imagine at least one game will be a high scoring affair. Folty/Allard/Dunning will be your throwers. Sat and Sun are afternoon games.

From Scott Lucas.

The new mock ($ link) from Kiley McDaniel of ESPN has the Rangers selecting Louisville catcher Henry Davis with the second pick, with Vandy RHP Jack Leiter and high school SS Jordan Lawlar as additional options. Most recent mocks have connected the Rangers to one of three high school shortstops (Marcelo Mayer, Lawlar or Khalil Watson). Player leverage in the draft process barely exists nowadays, but by virtue of their ages, Leiter and Lawlar have an advantage over their peers. Leiter is a draft-eligible sophomore, and Lawlar is old enough to be eligible again in two years.

At this point, it's basically throwing shit against a wall to see what sticks. This is at least the 4th player the Rangers have been projected to take at this point.

"Mock" says it all. No one knows at this point.

I should also mention that ESPN knows about as much as I do. Which is barely anything.
We have read about so many players that we are going to know a good bit of information about the player, whoever he winds up being.

As many good things as I hear about Davis, I will be glad if we get him, but I still like both Leiter and Rocker better for us.

Rangers Claim Shaun Anderson, Designate Tyson Miller

June 18th, 2021 at 1:03pm CST • By Steve Adams
The Rangers announced Friday that they’ve claimed righty Shaun Anderson off waivers from the Twins and designated fellow right-hander Tyson Miller for assignment in order to open a spot on the 40-man roster.
The waiver claim brings a quick Twins tenure for Anderson to a close and shines a spotlight on a now-regrettable swap that saw Minnesota send outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. to San Francisco in exchange for Anderson over the winter. At the time, the Twins looked to be dealing from a position of depth and taking a shot on a reliever with a tantalizing slider, but the Twins have been beset by outfield injuries this season and gotten nothing from their end of that exchange. Wade, meanwhile, has batted .257/.350/.443 in an admittedly small sample of 81 plate appearances for the Giants while missing some time with an oblique injury.

Anderson, 26, has been clobbered for 12 runs (nine earned) on 13 hits and five walks with eight punchouts in 8 2/3 innings out of the Twins’ bullpen so far in 2021. A quadriceps strain and a blister issue on his pitching hand have limited him to just four big league appearances and five outings in Triple-A. He’s been sharp in the minors, firing six scoreless innings with five punchouts and three walks.

Got to wonder what they are thinking.

I wonder if some of these acquisitions are to replace Gibson and Kennedy in a few weeks after they are traded. If we have prospects that prove ready between then and now they would probably prefer to go with them. They just need a backup plan.

If you're looking to eat, either go before you head there or try somewhere at Texas Live before going in. Food stuffs in the Grill are pretty lacking.

Thanks not too keen on old BP food minus the very unhealthy garlic fries. Afternoon game so we will eat prior.
Might give my little assessment.

I have some tickets to finally trade in as well. Hope that goes ok

Yerry Rodriguez males this list. He went 4 innings giving up no runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7.

If Humperdinks is still open down the road, across from Six Flags, that would be a good option for lunch.

I gues the 3 HR in one inning in his first outing back from injury wasn't a concern for the Rangers.
