I think I might need to go back to the Tebow game in 2011 for a more cringe QB performance to lose to in Arrowhead. At least that Chiefs team had the excuse that they were genuinely ass.

Its part of it but not the main reason. Tackle play is way down this year. RBs dinged up. Chiefs moving the ball still relatively well but awful in clutch situations. Gut tells me that trench play is a major factor.

Are we sure the tackle play is down or are they just exposed more due to terrible WR play /shrug

With this much regression, we're looking at two things. Or more.

I do get that elite QBs rarely repeat MVP performances, though, so there might be some basic Mahomes regression on top of WR play on top of maybe worse tackle play.
