So Jones is now 2-0 against MacKinnon. That's counting the WJC as a single contest where Jones' team won it all and he played a more significant role for his country. Will they meet again at the Memorial Cup? Jones seems to be ahead of MacKinnon now in a lot of the rankings with his buddy Drouin closing in fast at #3. I wouldn't mind seeing MacKinnon drop to #3. The fact that he refused to play for the team that drafted him in the Q doesn't impress me, even if my team was 1 of the teams on his short list of teams he'd be willing to play for. Hard to really dislike him too much at this point. He's just a kid and was even younger when "he" (and whoever else) made that call but I just happen to like the other 2 better.

Halifax fans booing Jones. :L I'm sure it was all in good fun and the vocal minority that certainly gives a bad impression.

Jones definitely looks like the real deal, so steady and smooth (he never seems to get rattled in his own end of the ice). MacKinnon is a great skater though (strong on his skates), he reminds me of another guy from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia whose name escapes me at the moment.

As for Drouin, what a 12 months he's had from playing midget 'AAA" to being on the top line for Canada at the WJHC. The only knock on him would be his size, but if you're a highly skilled player, I think scouts are finally starting to overlook the height factor.

Jones grew up and started playing hockey in Denver while his dad played NBA bball with the Nuggets. If Florida wins the lottery and doesn't take Jones, I have a feeling the Avs will snap him up.
