Meh. I feel a bit neutral on this. He was better than I expected this year but his general trend line is still concerning. This only works if he comes out hot next year. If it looks bad from day one, well, it will be another "feather" in FZ's cap.

Pretty accurate read, IMO.

He's a K machine; that won't change.

He's been better this year than I would have thought. The last three years of that contract are probably going to be a disaster. Then again, he's a solid team guy, a smart player, and a great glove.

Meh.

Agree with most of what everyone posted. My hope is that he brings something like Buster's leadership to this team. I think we have been missing that piece since he left.

If the deal is any indication, his leadership will be second only to Buster's.

Tbf, his first 1/4 of this season was atrocious. But you look at his season as a whole, and he was near MVP (down ballot) quality.

That's right, this was his bizarro 2023 season (where he was lights out offensively in April but generally stunk the rest of the season at the plate).

He's by far the team leader in WAR, do we not like that stat anymore?

I was referring to the people reluctant to sign him. Feels like a no brainer move we had to make.
Who didn’t want to sign him? I see some logical critical analysis of the contract, but I don’t see ANYONE showing any real reluctance to sign him.
